Greetings, dear ones, I am Kryon of Magnetic Service. It is December of 2013, but it seems like only a moment ago when we faced you and thousands of old souls around the planet and told you to “hold on”

We discussed with you that the prophecy of the precession of the equinoxes was thousands of years old and it was a turning point. We described that those in the Mayan civilizations, the prophets of their time, had put together the time fractals in a way that their calendars would reflect the esoterics of the wobble of the earth. We told you that their vision was so profound that the end of their calendar coincided with the beginning of a new era.

We told you that in between the end of 2012 and the beginning of 2014 there would be times of recalibration. We gave channel after channel telling you what was recalibrating, which basically was just about everything. We told you to hold on and we indicated that seeds were being planted for bigger things. We told you that there could be difficulty for you in this year [2013] and that some of you would find it more difficult than others. In a moment, I’m going to itemize some of the things that were difficult, and tell you what’s going to happen from here on.

I can tell you these things at this moment, just like I was able to tell you about 2013, because you’ve created them. This is not a prophecy, dear ones; this is a report. I see the bigger picture, something you cannot see as you sit listening to this. You see only the oneness of yourself and a few of your friends. It’s impossible for you to see an overview that Spirit sees based upon the billions of souls on the planet. There are billions of intents, and some of them contain surprises that are positive. Some of the consciousness shifts are only just beginning to occur, and through it all we repeated and we repeated that dark energy dies hard. We did that so you would understand that it is a slow process of coming out of the mud. The mud wants to suck you back in.

The dark energy has a lot to lose because of the light that you are shining back onto this planet, but this year was the recalibrating year. I know what you’ve been through. I know the friends you’ve lost way too soon. I know of the seemingly odd circumstances that some of you were in, so let’s just say what you’re thinking. You are thinking that what you have been through doesn’t suit a Lightworker, or that you didn’t deserve it. That’s what it’s like to recalibrate. But then I told Yawee that this was “his year”. [Yawee is the Lemurian name of Dr. Todd Ovokaitys, who just presented at the Kryon seminar.]

Now, for those who are listening to and reading this channelling apart from this group of old souls in the chairs, some of this information may seem to be a non sequitur. It’s because I’m now going to talk directly to Yawee and describe some things and explain some things that we’ve never explained. It’s time.

And so, listener, trust that what I’m going to say fits into a bigger picture. Those of you in the room heard Yawee speak a moment ago about how his high science is beginning to be seen and honored. So you are more aware of the meaning behind what I’m going to say than others. I’m going to reveal a function of the body that you are working with, Yawee, that you are not really aware of to the degree you should be.

How do I explain this? Yawee, years ago you walked into your vision and DNA talked to you. You have spoken of this. For 15 minutes, you got to actually “hear” it, and at some level you were aware that you were not talking to just one molecule. You were dealing with your own DNA, by the way. I think you knew that, but there was something unusual beyond what you have described, and you have not described all of it, I know that. The fact is that you were talking to more than 100 trillion molecules at the same time! It’s because you can’t just communicate with one molecule of DNA. There is a process that will be discovered, and one you are currently using, that I’m going to discuss now.

Medicine, esoteric medicine, has been using something for centuries that they don’t really understand. They know it works, but they don’t truly know how. Homeopathy is mysterious because homeopathy takes a tincture too small to chemically react to anything in the body, but it works. The Human ingests this, and it is absorbed normally under the tongue and it works. However, if you ask the homeopathically inclined that dispense and use it, they will come up with all manner of reasons why it works. But they are guessing.

The reason it works is because the small tincture you present to the body is “seen” and is communicating to what is called the “innate intelligent body”. It is not the intellect, not your brain, and not what you think is your 3D body chemistry. The tincture is a signal to the body to heal itself. The tincture isn’t guided anywhere, but the body sees the intent of the Human Being and the chemical in the medicine, and the innate smart body immediately knows what to do. It starts to heal where it knows it should heal. How many kinds of homeopathic remedies are there? Countless kinds, and they are known to work without any guidance at all. There’s a process in the body at work – there has to be.

Yawee, let’s talk about your invention, your most recent one. You described your guided stem cell protocol as a “go there and stay there” instructional technology to guide the stem cells directly to where they are needed. You “instruct” the stem cells to go to a place in the body and stay there where they can be used. Now, the ones sitting in the chairs today don’t know anything about that. But you do and I do. And you know that you’re either incredibly lucky, over and over, or you’re dealing with something else. Because to guide a stem cell in a “go there and stay there” scenario is like a Human Being reporting to a city of a billion people, then standing on the outskirts and locating that one person they are looking for, right away, by accident! Somehow it works.

Your “go there and stay there” is a macro program accomplishing an incredible micro result. How? Trillions, if not hundreds of trillions of DNA molecules are all identical in the Human body. Somehow they “talk to each other” instantly. If one DNA molecule senses something, they all do. Science doesn’t know that yet. They may have thought of it, but they don’t know it. There is a mystery here of how DNA does what it does. Somehow it must communicate, yet there is no process of communication known to your science that could explain it. But they all “see” the intent of your program together as one and implement it as one.

We have told you this before, and we have written books about it. Your DNA has quantum attributes. It’s not a quantum molecule, but it gives quantum instructions. Ah, but there’s more. All the DNA I perceive in your body right now is singular, with only one allied consciousness. This is because the DNA in the Human body is in an entangled state with itself. It is quantumly locked in a way that it works as one benevolent union. This is a quantum physics attribute that is not yet fully understood and not yet applied to biology. It represents the smart body, the innate body, and if you want proof of that, it’s everywhere!

What do you know about identical twins? You know that they have the same DNA and that they are the only Humans on the planet who do. What do you know about studies of identical twins? You know that they can be on opposite sides of the planet and both can have the same intuition at the same time about something that’s happening with their family. Now, what does that tell you about their DNA? It’s connected! In fact, it’s connected within a particular quantum state. What do you know about quantumness in DNA? The answer is, almost nothing! So let me fill you in. It’s beautiful. Let me fill you in, because it’s going to temper everything you do from now on.

Now go slow, my partner, for I want this to be right. It has to do with what’s going on with the recalibration of the Human Being. What I’m going to describe is the recalibration process and what is changing within many of you.

The field around DNA is quantum and it responds in various ways to other quantumness given to it. The response is not linear, not chemistry and not through intellectual thought. This quantum world around you is a world that you’ve not measured yet and one you can’t see yet. There are no instruments to prove it yet, but there will be and when that time arrives, you will see it clearly. Then you’ll know I’m right.

If DNA is surrounded by some kind of quantum state, it means that it has quantum attributes with other things in a quantum state. What else do you suspect is quantum? The tones that you’re singing are quantum [speaking of the pineal tones Todd has developed]. The seed biology from the Pleiadians is quantum. I’ll just go ahead and state it, and Yawee will figure it out. At a quantum level, this multidimensional field that connects all the DNA has one intelligence, and it is connected to the original template. That means that it “knows” like homeopathy “knows” exactly what you’re trying to do, and it is benevolent to the max!

Your DNA chemistry may be working at 30 to 35 percent in 2014, but the master template is at 100 percent. [This template is there and always has been.] Therefore, the field around your DNA is always there working at 100 percent. You, as a Human Being, make choices based in duality and create the decisions of life. But at the DNA quantum level, the “smart body” level, there’s a cheering section that is connected to the template and it’s always ready to go – benevolent and ready to cooperate with anything you give it. This is the homeopathy effect.

Early in your experiments, Yawee, you discovered something very unusual – a homeopathy effect of your quantum laser. You found that if you could trigger instruction sets to even a few molecules of DNA, all of them got the picture at the same time. Even if you gave it to them in a linear fashion, all of them got it at the same time.

Your “go there and stay there” scenario is cooperative with the benevolence of the Human Being, which is connected to the template and it knows exactly what you’re telling it, and it will always work. It will always work! You are working with body intelligence, which is quantum. The more refined your instructions become, the more benevolence is seen and understood as the body heals itself through the template. You already know that. Quantum homeopathy is what you’re doing.

The parts and pieces in linearity don’t really add up to the whole effect, do they, Yawee? That doesn’t make sense in a linear world. The rest of the story is that you have accomplished a quantum handshake with quantumly entangled DNA of the Human body. The reason the results are so profound, with some of them flying in the face of known science, is that you have one of the first qualified quantum physics energies on the planet that then is a fast-track to the quantum biological parts of the Human Being. I just told you why it all works. There’s more, there is always more, but knowing this you can go to some of the next steps that you’ve been looking at and thinking about, knowing that the principal of any biology you work with will be “benevolent cooperation”.

Dear ones, this DNA quantum field is the one that has been just a little off this year. The very benevolence of your DNA, which is connected to the master template, has been recalibrating. Sometimes it’s aligned with the template, and sometimes it’s not. And that is why you’ve felt like you’ve felt. That is why there is sometimes surprise sickness. Let’s list some of the recalibration issues of 2013.

Health is first. Do I have to expand upon that? There have been more sick old souls than ever before in 2013. Suddenly, it’s like an esoteric plague of sickness. You’re recalibrating! Things are not quite aligned but they’re about to be.

Now, spirit doesn’t work with a calendar, and when January 1, 2014, arrives, be careful you don’t celebrate that everything is going to be just great. Because each one of you is different and the paths are different and the calibrations are different. The solutions to the issues and the problems are different, but what I want to tell you is that the seeds of recalibration have been planted for this year of 2013, and 2014 is where they start to grow. Slowly this DNA field of yours will come back into calibration, but with a different Human nature template. It’s one that is enhanced and ready for things beyond the old energy.

We’ve told you that you’ve been in esoteric survival mode and we’ve even given you the attributes to look forward to, which are not survival specific in any way. They included compassion and tolerance and temperance. They included generosity and all the other things that survival mode does not include. You might say it’s a “different kind of survival”. It’s a survival by creating compassion, which leads to peace on Earth. With that come other things that are going to sustain Human life on the planet, despite the doomsday sayers and preppers and all the others who continue to expect the worst. They’ll get “the worst” by the way, since this is the message they are giving to their DNA. Did you ever meet a hypochondriac who pulled every disease they were afraid of right into their cells? You see, it works! A benevolent cellular structure will do its best to follow the instructions of the “boss”. So, what are your instructions? What are you saying to the quantum field around you? That’s the next thing I want to talk about.

Health. Now that you know what is going on in your own body and that it is benevolent, you have the opportunity to give it quantum instructions with your intuition. I didn’t say to do it with your brain, did I? You have to use conceptual intuitive thought. See yourself healed! See yourself out of the disease or the anomaly. These are your instructions that will go right into that realigned DNA with receptors that are far more willing and ready to receive your information than you ever realized. The cures can be quick, trust me, and the worst is over. But the realignment and the facilitation of the new energies are going to take a while to fit in, so give them time. But for most of you, the worst is over.

Consciousness. You’ve been just a little off, as we’ve said. The year of full moons is complete. Consciousness cannot align to the core within you when it’s always a little off. The energies are pushing and pulling it because it’s recalibrating. This has pulled some of you away from Spirit, did you know that? I know who’s here, I know who’s listening. Some have been pulled right out of their faith and right out of their love for God, and they’ve become cynical. I know who’s here, and I know who’s listening. That’s what recalibration does. If you only trust your intellect, then nothing’s going to work. Your intellect is not connected to your innate!

You know, don’t you, that the connection to your Higher-Self, that beautiful silver cord, is not a product of the synapse of your brain. You knew that, didn’t you? You cannot intellectually examine the majesty of the divine. It’s done with the heart, the innate and the emotional body. Then balance that with the intellectual part of your brain, and you have mastery!

I know who’s here. How many of you have been trying to hold on to what you had? Do you remember the feelings that you had when you meditated in the older energy? It was a “known” energy. What about the connections you had with Spirit that made you smile, or the things that would make you feel good inside – and they are now missing? I know who’s here, and I know who’s listening. Well, let me tell you something, it’s coming back! But you may have to tune to another station to get it. So be aware of that. Don’t simply repeat the old ways. Try some new things. Feel the breath of God as it breathes peacefulness right now to you. That was number two, consciousness.

Number three is synchronicity. For some, it has stopped happening. You depend on it for your life, and it just isn’t happening. Now for Yawee, it’s a bit different. I told him personally that 2013 would feature synchronicity for him. But that is because he’s different and he needs to plant the seeds that will eventually begin the growth of what we described only a week ago as the new frontier on the African continent. This is something we have been saying for years, and now you got to hear it in this assemblage today – the beginning of that, right where we said it would happen. So Yawee is helping to facilitate the recalibration, instead of participating in it.

Synchronicity has been explained many times, but it requires that you be in sync with your intuitive self and your innate. But the benevolent connection to the template that you count on for your intuition has been readjusting itself for you, and it has been difficult. Things that you thought would happen didn’t, and things you thought would never happen did. This makes you question whether you’re doing it right, doesn’t it? I know who’s here, I know who’s listening. That’s going to change, and slowly you’ll get the sync back because the benevolent connection with the template source of your DNA is starting to align.

You are starting to receive a greater percentage of activation of your DNA as a Human race. Some of you will use it and some of you will not. But all of humanity is receiving it and not just a few. The Lightworkers, the old souls, have the wisdom of the Akash and they feel it and know it. They have the wisdom of the ancestors to listen to messages like these and to align to them.

Expect good things! Did you believe me a year ago when I told you about 2013? Well, believe me now. It starts to get better. Did I tell you that the old energy would die hard? It’s going to try to stop you. Now, again this old energy is not an entity out to get you. It’s simply dark energy that works in a certain way and balances with light. But be aware as you watch the news and you see certain kinds of actions. It’s not going to look good for a while because the news only reports the darkness.

Judgment, number four. Bad judgment. Some of you have made bad choices! Normally you don’t, so you sit there beating yourselves up because you made bad choices! In retrospect, you know better: “I’m an old soul, I should know better. I should know not to do this or that.” Perhaps you’ve gone certain places and created certain schemes but they didn’t work. Then you say to yourself, “I should know better.” But that’s what happens during a recalibration.

You see, you were not aligned to your “common senses” template, and your judgment is not what it normally is during a time of realignment. I told you a year ago it would be good if you climbed into a closet for a year and didn’t come out – have somebody feed you under the door so you wouldn’t have to interact with life. [Laughter] Of course, that’s Kryon humor, but you know what I’m saying. When you got out and about, and went through life making decisions that you make all the time, not all of them were good this year. Don’t let it bring you down. Consider 2013 a year in the dark if you want. You’ve been moving through a fog, which is clearing, and fog doesn’t clear all at once. As you slowly see further ahead, you will feel better about the road.

You’ll feel it getting better in many ways, dear ones. The connection, the alignment – nothing is better than a full alignment of DNA with the template of creation.

Benevolent DNA: Do you realize, Yawee, that you’re the first one to use this process on this scale? Do you realize, Yawee, what you can do from now on through the knowledge of these things? The “go there and stay there” is just the beginning. Try something even more stellar and be amazed! The whole quantum field of DNA knows who you are and what you’re doing, and with the whole Human Being allowing, it will work. It will work.

Finally, there’s fear. You’re a Lightworker and an old soul, and you continue to say, “Well, I’m really not afraid of anything.” Oh, yes you are! I’ve used the term before and it comes from my partner’s brain. Please forgive me if it isn’t that funny, but 2013 has been the year of, “Have a little fire, scarecrow?”

Unbalance can destroy everything you are and make you afraid of losing the core. It only takes a few things for you to doubt your spirituality, doesn’t it? “Am I doing it right? Spirit, am I doing it right? This shouldn’t be happening. What have I done wrong? Am I doing it right? Why are things going so wrong?” Dear ones, I’m here to tell you that nothing has gone wrong. Everything is as it should be, Lightworker, because you are the one who is recalibrating. Do you understand that?

Ninety percent of the planet is just sitting there feeling fine and nothing odd is happening. It’s because they’re not in touch with what the old soul is. They could be with free will and free choice, but they’re not interested. But you are. This is because you gave permission to recalibrate. How do you like that?

I want everybody who is listening and reading this right now to receive this gift that we are pushing to you. We are doing it in a quantum way, and I will ask you to release the fear! It’s an old energy paper tiger that says if things feel different, then something is wrong. But that is not truth. You’re doing everything right, everything right! In this process, it’s going to occur to you why you’re here and what you’re doing. Why you? Why now? Could it be that this was the plan all along?

Drop this false fear! Don’t let circumstances of a recalibrated year prompt you to lose your faith. Take your hand, if you wish, and grasp that of the Higher-Self right now, and don’t let go. Because the Higher-Self is offering this to you. It’s time to finish this nonsense of recalibration, feeling odd and unusual, or sick, or not knowing what’s wrong with you. It’s time to finish doubting who you are or trying to figure out why you have funny judgment and nonexistent synchronicity.

We’ve been with you the whole time and we told you it was coming. But when you get it, you don’t know why and many become fearful. It’s time to drop the fear. Things are going to start to align and when they do, the synchronicity of things that you are hoping for will start to click and start to settle. Some of you will have greater synchronicity than you ever imagined, and it will make up for 2013. You’ll start to understand why certain things happened the way they did.

Dear one, you’re an old soul. You’re the forerunner and the hope of the galaxy. I came in all those years ago to give you this channel tonight. Did you realize that? There was only hope back then that you would cross the bridge – that shift of the precession of the equinoxes – only hope. But then you firmly crossed it and now the work begins. Past 2013, the work will be that which starts to synchronize with you and who you are.

“Kryon, why do we have to go through this?” That’s why you’re called Lightworker, dear ones. Some of this is work – hard work.

We’re about to leave, and the next time I channel, it will be 2014. The year 2014 represents a “seven year”, a year of divinity. Let the seeds that you’ve planted through your health issues, your consciousness issues, your poor judgment and your fear be buried in the ground! Then water them with compassion and what will grow will be the beauty of what you always wanted. Let the ground yield the fruit of your hard work, eventually creating the turning point for peace on Earth.

Let compassion reign in YOU, dear ones, and stand tall that you made it. You made it.

Dangers of Sucralose

Science Review Reveals Laundry List of Health Hazards Associated with Splenda Consumption

  • Both animal and human studies have shown that Splenda alters glucose, insulin and glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) levels, thereby promoting weight gain, insulin resistance, and type 2 diabetes
  • The adverse effects of sucralose are oftentimes misdiagnosed or overlooked entirely as the side effects are so varied and mimic common ailments

Sucralose, marketed under the brand name Splenda, is a best-selling artificial sweetener around the world. (In the European Union, sucralose is also known under the additive code E955.)

It has been nearly eight years since I published my concerns about Splenda in my book, Sweet Deception. Since then, evidence continues to support the concerns I had back then.

Splenda is found in tens of thousands of processed food products sold in 90 different countries, many of which are specifically marketed to those seeking to either lose weight or manage their diabetes.

Mounting research, however, shows that not only does it tend to worsen both of those problems, but it’s also associated with an array of other troublesome side effects.

The web site www.truthaboutsplenda.com lists a variety of consumer complaints from Splenda consumption, many of which mimic other health conditions. Some of the most commonly reported adverse effects include:

  • Gastrointestinal problems
  • Seizures, dizziness, and migraines
  • Blurred vision
  • Allergic reactions
  • Blood sugar increases and weight gain

But that’s not all. Now, an in-depth scientific review1, 2 of sucralose published in the Journal of Toxicology and Environmental Health3 reveals an extensive list of safety concerns, including toxicity, DNA damage, and heightened carcinogenic potential when used in cooking.

It also blows a huge hole in the argument that Splenda is a good choice for diabetics and/or those seeking to lose weight.

Sucralose—NOT Safe for Cooking After All

The featured report came to several important conclusions—all of which challenge the “generally recognized as safe” (GRAS) status of sucralose. Of primary concern is that sucralose is not an inert substance.

When heated, it releases chloropropanols, which belong to a class of toxins known as dioxins. One of the selling points of Splenda is that it remains stable when heated, making it well-suited for cooking and baking, but these findings refute such claims. (Many other artificial sweeteners, such as aspartame, are not recommended for cooking purposes as they’re known to break down in high temperatures.)

As reported by Sayer Ji at GreenMedInfo.com,4 research now shows that sucralose starts breaking down at 119 degrees Celsius; 180 degrees Celsius causes it to degrade completely.

Dioxin is a waste product of incineration, smelting, chlorine bleaching, and pesticide manufacturing, and its well-documented health effects include cancer and endocrine disruption. In fact, dioxin, which was a toxic component of the Agent Orange used to defoliate jungles during the Vietnam War, is easily one of the most dangerous chemicals known to man.

Another study5 published in October also expressed concern over the chlorination reactions that occur when sucralose is cooked in stainless steel cookware, generating highly toxic compounds, including dioxins6 and polychlorinated dibenzofurans (PCDFs).

Recent animal research also suggests a link between Splenda consumption and an increased risk of leukemia.7 Based on such research, the time is more than ripe for the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to reconsider the GRAS status of sucralose…

Sucralose Also Destroys Your Gut Health

The featured review also concluded that sucralose destroys gut bacteria. (In fact, animal research8 published in 2008 found it could kill as much as 50 percent of your microbiome).

This is very important, as anytime you destroy healthy intestinal bacteria, you open yourself up to unfriendly micro-organisms that can cause health problems. Your immune system, which is imperative for general health, is dependent on healthy gut flora, so the idea that this artificial sweetener may destroy up to half of all your healthy gut bacteria is disconcerting to say the least.

Worse yet, sucralose appears to target beneficial microorganisms to a greater extent than pathogenic and other more detrimental bacteria. And remarkably, according to one study, these adverse effects on gut microbiota remained even after a three-month long recovery period…

Early studies, upon which its approval was based, claimed that sucralose would simply pass unchanged through the human gastrointestinal tract, but more recent investigations show that it is indeed metabolized in your gut. And, as reported in the featured review, “the identity and safety profile of these putative sucralose metabolites are not known at this time.”

Why 2014 Will Be The Year Of Mindful Living

Mindfulness, it seems, is having a moment. 2013 saw a significant spike of interest in holistic health and mindfulness practices like yoga and meditation (not to mention a number of celebrities and CEOs hopping on the mindfulness bandwagon) and it’s a trend that will likely continue to gain momentum in 2014.

“What the culture is craving is a sense of ease and reflection, of not needing to be stimulated or entertained or going after something constantly,” Soren Gordhamer, founder of the Wisdom 2.0 conference, told the New York Times. “Nobody’s kicking out technology, but we have to regain our connection to others and to nature or else everybody loses.”

Here are five reasons that mindfulness will change the world this upcoming year.

Trendspotters are going all in for 2014.

According to JWT Worldwide, one of the world’s largest marketing communications brands, 2014 will be characterized by a movement toward mindful living. A number of the items on JWT’s “100 Things to Watch for in 2014” list reflect a growing interest in mindfulness — that is, the cultivation of a focused awareness on the present moment — and mindful living was named one of 10 trends that will shape the world in 2014 and beyond.

“Mindfulness is part of a much larger trend we’ve been observing called mindful living,” Ann Mack, director of trendspotting at JWT, told the Huffington Post. “It’s kind of a counter-trend to the past decade of overly stimulated, ADD-afflicted, tech-saturated culture that we’ve been living in. What was once the domain of the spiritual set has filtered into the mainstream as more people are drawn to this idea of shutting out distractions and focusing on the moment.”

Related trends forecasted on JWT’s 2014 list include “survival of the focused,” “rage against the machine” — a movement characterized by a fear and resentment of technology, and desire for more human experiences — and mindfulness in the classroom.

But just because mindfulness has been labeled a trend, don’t expect the movement to fizzle out any time soon.

“[Mindful living] has staying power, because our world is only going to become more saturated with technology, and therefore people have to find ways to counteract that,” says Mack. “We’re reassessing our relationship with technology. Over the last decade, we’ve allowed technology to rule us. Now we’re trying to be more mindful in the way we use technology and find more balance.”

It’s a movement that began gaining steam in 2013, making headlines around the web — from Rupert Murdoch’s announcement that he was taking up Transcendental Meditation to the University of Wisconsin’s groundbreaking finding that mindfulness meditation actually alters gene expression in the body — and searches for the term soared on Google (see chart below).


Major corporations are getting on board.

Silicon Valley may be at least partially responsible for turning mindfulness from a niche New Age practice to a pop culture buzzword. In November, a New York Times Magazine cover story profiled the “hunger to get centered” and influx of mindfulness practices in the tech world and beyond.

“It seems counterintuitive, since technology is perhaps the biggest driver of mindlessness and distraction… but the drive to mindfulness is becoming more prominent in places were tech immersion is more prominent,” says Mack. “A lot of Silicon Valley companies, for instance, are banning technology during meetings in an effort to reign in focus.”

Google even offers its employees a program called Search Inside Yourself (SIY), a mindfulness-based emotional intelligence training program. Chade-Meng Tan, the program’s founder and author of “Search Inside Yourself,” told the Huffington Post that mindfulness can help build compassion, which can be beneficial to not only individuals and community, but also to corporate bottom lines.

“The one thing [that all companies should be doing] is promoting the awareness that compassion can and will be good for success and profits,” said Tan.

Leaders are identifying themselves with it.

A number of high-powered executives — from LinkedIn’s Jeff Weiner to the late Steve Jobs to Oprah — have touted meditation as their secret to success. Even several years ago, you’d never expect to hear a billionaire hedge fund founder admit to meditating daily, but it’s becoming a lot more common.

“Meditation more than anything in my life was the biggest ingredient of whatever success I’ve had,” Bridgewater Associates founder Ray Dalio claimed, while Oprah has said that meditation helps her to create her best work and best life.

Science has proven it’s worth the hype.

gum sqIf you are still purchasing chewing gum from conventional manufacturers, STOP TODAY! Don’t buy another pack or even chew another piece until you read this report. The following is a comprehensive list of major brands to avoid due to their toxic formulations containing the two very deadly sweeteners aspartame and sucralose.

When heated to 86 degrees Fahrenheit (human mouth = 98.6 degrees Fahrenheit) — aspartame releases free methanol that breaks down into formic acid and formaldehyde in the body. 

Monsanto, the creator of Aspartame knows all about the dangers. They fund the American Diabetics Association, the Conference of the American College of Physicians and Congress. A recent report from businessweek showed that Monsanto spent $2 million dollars lobbying the U.S. government in the 3rd quarter of 2011 alone.

Many bills that have attempted to warn people about the dangers of aspartame have been killed off by the powerful drug and chemical lobbies, letting loose the hounds of disease and death on an unsuspecting public.

Aspartame in gum is absorbed by the buccal mucosa of the mouth, gums, and the tongue. According to research, because aspartame is absorbed this way, it makes aspartame a far worse poisoning than if given or injected intravenously. The aspartame goes directly into the brain by passing the spinal cord and the blood-brain barrier when it is absorbed in the mouth. The smallest amount of aspartame (like what is contained in a piece of gum) is very dangerous and damaging to the health of the body.

When aspartame is ingested into the digestive tract, it breaks down into numerous other poisons. The intact Aspartame molecule and its diketopiperazine form are vastly worse poisonings than any of the other poisonings which arise from it during digestion, and liver processing of the digestive blood, which is delivered directly to the liver via the portal vein. The other poisonings, as mentioned, are indeed horrendous but Aspartame from gum is far worse, making even the smaller amounts contained in chewing gum strikingly dangerous and damaging.

Aspartame, via ingestion into the digestive tract, is made into some ten other poisonings by the digestive processes, and then excepting that which is delivered directly to the pancreas, they are transported straight to the liver via the portal vein, where they then are very partially dealt with, and partially reprocessed. Afterwards, they are sent in somewhat lesser concentration to the entire body, lessening the amount which eventually goes to the brain. The amount getting to the brain from either source is devastating to it in many ways. Aspartame is most certainly devastatingly toxic when ingested, but a like amount is immensely worse when obtained from chewing gum.

If you’d like to avoid aspartame, please keep in mind that it’s not only in chewing gum. It is a common ingredient in many packaged foods and beverages, particularly those that are marketed as being sugar-free or low in calories. Examples include sugar-free or low calorie:

A tsunami of bad publicity and ground root outcry has destroyed the public acceptance of aspartame and the sales are in the toilet. Netherlands producer, Holland Sweetener closed its doors and in the USA Merisant, went bankrupt a year ago for $230 million. Aspartame set an all time high in volunteered consumer complaints to the USA’s Food and Drug Administration (FDA), which once published a list of 92 reactions to it including 4 types of seizures, blindness and death. Yahoo lists 7 million aspartame sites, overwhelmingly condemnatory.

Aspartame is now set to change its name to AminoSweet. With that alias, again they intend to fool us, sicken us and murder us. They will have to buy enough advertising, bribe enough phoney “experts” and use corrupt front organizations to endorse their junk. Crime will march on and aspartame, not to be called aspartame, will retain that dear toxicity which it owns without that title.

WHAT IS ASPARTAME? 

Aspartame, also marketed as Nutrasweet, Spoonful, Canderel and Equal as well as being a common additive in many foods and drinks (sometimes shown as the E number E951), is quite simply a poisonous sugar replacement.

It is made up of three chemicals: Aspartic acid, phenylalanine, and methanol.

Aspartic Acid (40 percent of aspartame)

Dr. Russell L. Blaylock, a professor of neurosurgery at the Medical University of Mississippi, recently published a book thoroughly detailing the damage that is caused by the ingestion of excessive aspartic acid from aspartame. Blaylock makes use of almost 500 scientific references to show how excess free excitatory amino acids such as aspartic acid and glutamic acid (about 99 percent of monosodium glutamate (MSG) is glutamic acid) in our food supply are causing serious chronic neurological disorders and a myriad of other acute symptoms.

Aspartate and glutamate act as neurotransmitters in the brain by facilitating the transmission of information from neuron to neuron. Too much aspartate or glutamate in the brain kills certain neurons by allowing the influx of too much calcium into the cells. This influx triggers excessive amounts of free radicals, which kill the cells. The neural cell damage that can be caused by excessive aspartate and glutamate is why they are referred to as “excitotoxins.” They “excite” or stimulate the neural cells to death.

Aspartic acid is an amino acid. Taken in its free form (unbound to proteins) it significantly raises the blood plasma level of aspartate and glutamate. The excess aspartate and glutamate in the blood plasma shortly after ingesting aspartame or products with free glutamic acid (glutamate precursor) leads to a high level of those neurotransmitters in certain areas of the brain.

The blood brain barrier (BBB), which normally protects the brain from excess glutamate and aspartate as well as toxins, 1) is not fully developed during childhood, 2) does not fully protect all areas of the brain, 3) is damaged by numerous chronic and acute conditions, and 4) allows seepage of excess glutamate and aspartate into the brain even when intact.

The excess glutamate and aspartate slowly begin to destroy neurons. The large majority (75 percent or more) of neural cells in a particular area of the brain are killed before any clinical symptoms of a chronic illness are noticed. A few of the many chronic illnesses that have been shown to be contributed to by long-term exposure to excitatory amino acid damage include:

-Alzheimer’s disease
-Parkinson’s disease
-Hypoglycemia
-AIDS
-Dementia
-Brain lesions

The risk to infants, children, pregnant women, the elderly and persons with certain chronic health problems from excitotoxins are great. Even the Federation of American Societies for Experimental Biology (FASEB), which usually understates problems and mimics the FDA party-line, recently stated in a review that:

“It is prudent to avoid the use of dietary supplements of L-glutamic acid by pregnant women, infants, and children. The existence of evidence of potential endocrine responses, i.e., elevated cortisol and prolactin, and differential responses between males and females, would also suggest a neuroendocrine link and that supplemental L-glutamic acid should be avoided by women of childbearing age and individuals with affective disorders.”

Phenylalanine (50 percent of aspartame)

Phenylalanine is an amino acid normally found in the brain. Persons with the genetic disorder phenylketonuria (PKU) cannot metabolize phenylalanine. This leads to dangerously high levels of phenylalanine in the brain (sometimes lethal). It has been shown that ingesting aspartame, especially along with carbohydrates, can lead to excess levels of phenylalanine in the brain even in persons who do not have PKU.

This is not just a theory, as many people who have eaten large amounts of aspartame over a long period of time and do not have PKU have been shown to have excessive levels of phenylalanine in the blood. Excessive levels of phenylalanine in the brain can cause the levels of seratonin in the brain to decrease, leading to emotional disorders such as depression. It was shown in human testing that phenylalanine levels of the blood were increased significantly in human subjects who chronically used aspartame.

Even a single use of aspartame raised the blood phenylalanine levels. In his testimony before the U.S. Congress, Dr. Louis J. Elsas showed that high blood phenylalanine can be concentrated in parts of the brain and is especially dangerous for infants and fetuses. He also showed that phenylalanine is metabolised much more effeciently by rodents than by humans.

One account of a case of extremely high phenylalanine levels caused by aspartame was recently published the “Wednesday Journal” in an article titled “An Aspartame Nightmare.” John Cook began drinking six to eight diet drinks every day. His symptoms started out as memory loss and frequent headaches. He began to crave more aspartame-sweetened drinks. His condition deteriorated so much that he experienced wide mood swings and violent rages. Even though he did not suffer from PKU, a blood test revealed a phenylalanine level of 80 mg/dl. He also showed abnormal brain function and brain damage. After he kicked his aspartame habit, his symptoms improved dramatically.

As Blaylock points out in his book, early studies measuring phenylalanine buildup in the brain were flawed. Investigators who measured specific brain regions and not the average throughout the brain notice significant rises in phenylalanine levels. Specifically the hypothalamus, medulla oblongata, and corpus striatum areas of the brain had the largest increases in phenylalanine. Blaylock goes on to point out that excessive buildup of phenylalanine in the brain can cause schizophrenia or make one more susceptible to seizures.

Therefore, long-term, excessive use of aspartame may provid a boost to sales of seratonin reuptake inhibitors such as Prozac and drugs to control schizophrenia and seizures.

Methanol (aka wood alcohol/poison) (10 percent of aspartame) 

Methanol/wood alcohol is a deadly poison. Some people may remember methanol as the poison that has caused some “skid row” alcoholics to end up blind or dead. Methanol is gradually released in the small intestine when the methyl group of aspartame encounter the enzyme chymotrypsin.

The absorption of methanol into the body is sped up considerably when free methanol is ingested. Free methanol is created from aspartame when it is heated to above 86 Fahrenheit (30 Centigrade). This would occur when aspartame-containing product is improperly stored or when it is heated (e.g., as part of a “food” product such as Jello).

Methanol breaks down into formic acid and formaldehyde in the body. Formaldehyde is a deadly neurotoxin. An EPA assessment of methanol states that methanol “is considered a cumulative poison due to the low rate of excretion once it is absorbed. In the body, methanol is oxidized to formaldehyde and formic acid; both of these metabolites are toxic.” They recommend a limit of consumption of 7.8 mg/day. A one-liter (approx. 1 quart) aspartame-sweetened beverage contains about 56 mg of methanol. Heavy users of aspartame-containing products consume as much as 250 mg of methanol daily or 32 times the EPA limit.

Causes Cancer

Aspartame is a multi-potential carcinogen, even consumed daily at 20 milligrams per kilogram of body weight. That is a lower quantity than the maximum recommended by the FDA (50 mg/kg of body weight) and the European Union (40 mg/kg).

It increases the incidence of malignant tumours in rats. In the females it increases leukaemia and lymphomas, as well as cancerous cells in the pelvis and urethra. In the males, it especially increases the incidence of malignant tumours in peripheral nerves.

According to an investigation of cancer by the World Heath Organisation, the experimental study of carcinogenic agents in rats is very important for humans. One-third of the cancer-causing agents in man have been discovered with experiments conducted on animals.

The study of the doses correlated between the milligrams that were consumed and body weight. This tells us that the carcinogenic effect in children could be greater (because of their lower weight). The carcinogenic agents have a stronger effect on the embryo, which is why pregnant women are at greater risk.

WHAT IS SUCRALOSE? 

A report from scientists at Duke University demonstrated that the artificial sweetener Splenda (sucralose) and its key component sucralose pose a threat to the people who consume the product.

According to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, 11 to 27 percent of ingested sucralose is absorbed by the human body (FDA 1998). Research published by the manufacturer of sucralose (Roberts 2000) shows that when 8 healthy male adults where given sucralose (in 1 mg/kg amounts), between 10.4% and 30.6% of the sucralose was absorbed. In addition, 1.6% to 12.2% of the sucralose accumulates in the body.

 

Aspartame has been forced out by increasing public awareness that it is both a neurotoxin and an underlying cause of chronic illness worldwide. Dr. James Bowen, Researcher and biochemist, reports:

“Splenda/sucralose is simply chlorinated sugar; a chlorocarbon. Common chlorocarbons include carbon tetrachloride, trichlorethelene and methylene chloride, all deadly. Chlorine is nature’s Doberman attack dog, a highly excitable, ferocious atomic element employed as a biocide in bleach, disinfectants, insecticide, WWI poison gas and hydrochloric acid.

“Sucralose is a molecule of sugar chemically manipulated to surrender three hydroxyl groups (hydrogen + oxygen) and replace them with three chlorine atoms. Natural sugar is a hydrocarbon built around 12 carbon atoms. When turned into Splenda it becomes a chlorocarbon, in the family of Chlorodane, Lindane and DDT.

“It is logical to ask why table salt, which also contains chlorine, is safe while Splenda/sucralose is toxic? Because salt isn’t a chlorocarbon. When molecular chemistry binds sodium to chlorine to make salt carbon isn’t included. Sucralose and salt are as different as oil and water.

“Unlike sodium chloride, chlorocarbons are never nutritionally compatible with our metabolic processes and are wholly incompatible with normal human metabolic functioning. When chlorine is chemically reacted into carbon-structured organic compounds to make chlorocarbons, the carbon and chlorine atoms bind to each other by mutually sharing electrons in their outer shells. This arrangement adversely affects human metabolism because our mitochondrial and cellular enzyme systems are designed to completely utilize organic molecules containing carbon, hydrogen, oxygen, nitrogen, and other compatible nutritional elements.

“By this process chlorocarbons such as sucralose deliver chlorine directly into our cells through normal metabolization. This makes them effective insecticides and preservatives. Preservatives must kill anything alive to prevent bacterial decomposition.”

Dr. Bowen believes ingested chlorocarbon damage continues with the formation of other toxins: “Any chlorocarbons not directly excreted from the body intact can cause immense damage to the processes of human metabolism and, eventually, our internal organs. The liver is a detoxification organ which deals with ingested poisons. Chlorocarbons damage the hepatocytes, the liver’s metabolic cells, and destroy them.

In test animals Splenda produced swollen livers, as do all chlorocarbon poisons, and also calcified the kidneys of test animals in toxicity studies. The brain and nervous system are highly subject to metabolic toxicities and solvency damages by these chemicals. Their high solvency attacks the human nervous system and many other body systems including genetics and the immune function. Thus, chlorocarbon poisoning can cause cancer, birth defects, and immune system destruction. These are well known effects of Dioxin and PCBs which are known deadly chlorocarbons.”

Dr. Bowen continues: “Just like aspartame, which achieved marketplace approval by the Food and Drug Administration when animal studies clearly demonstrated its toxicity, sucralose also failed in clinical trials with animals. Aspartame created brain tumors in rats. Sucralose has been found to shrink thymus glands (the biological seat of immunity) and produce liver inflammation in rats and mice.

“In the coming months we can expect to see a river of media hype expounding the virtues of Splenda/sucralose. We should not be fooled again into accepting the safety of a toxic chemical on the blessing of the FDA and saturation advertising. In terms of potential long-term human toxicity we should regard sucralose with its chemical cousin DDT, the insecticide now outlawed because of its horrendous long term toxicities at even minute trace levels in human, avian, and mammalian tissues.

Synthetic chemical sweeteners are generally unsafe for human consumption. This toxin was given the chemical name “sucralose” which is a play on the technical name of natural sugar, sucrose. One is not the other. One is food, the other is toxic; don’t be deceived.

Natural Alternatives – Aspartame/Sucralose Free Gum 

There are now several chewing gums free of aspartame and sucralose on the market. Some mainstream brands such as Chiclets and Bazooka claim to be aspartame free but still have toxic ingredients and colors. Zapp Gum is another alternative but it still has artificial flavour and toxic soy lecithinPeppersmith is touted as an all natural gum but contains genetically modified rapeseed lecithin.

What you need to look for are chewing gums with no artificial preservatives, no artificial flavors, no artificial colors and no artificial sweeteners. Do they exist? Yes. Here are two brands but you can also make your own gum if you are up to the task:

Meridians and Emotions

The approach to disease in Western allopathic medicine can be likened to the bug spray approach to garbage. You can spray the garbage with bug spray all week but as long as there is garbage, there will be bugs and flies and their eggs. The Eastern meridian approach to disease is to simply get rid of the garbage, the flies will disappear with the garbage.

Let’s consider the notion of disease or discomfort by comparing the philosophy between western allopathic medicine and traditional Chinese medicine. With the teachings of allopathic medicine, the belief is that we get sick because of germs. If this was true then we would be dead the minute we were born. Germs remain dormant rather than a threat to us as long as we have a healthy immune response.

Discovering the fundamentals of the immune response, three dimensionally by observing the eastern meridian approach is the key to body balance and your health.

The Eastern Five Element theory teaches us that we have two immune responses. One physical immune system with the endocrine and lymphatic system, same as the allopathic model but also an energy immune system; the meridians. By following the teachings of Allopathic medicine only the physical immune system can be strengthened to gain health, but by considering the effects of meridians from the Traditional Chinese medicine, a secondary resource is adopted to enhance our well being. The flow of the meridian is as critical as the flow of blood; your life and health depend upon it. If meridian energy is blocked or unregulated, the system it feeds is jeopardized.

 

that exist in our personal environment. The Eastern Meridian and Five Element approach to health theorizes that sickness is caused by “weather conditions” that exist in our personal environment. The weather conditions are described as “external weather”; physical exposure to the outside climate and “internal weather”; emotional vulnerability to your internal atmosphere.

External weather is simply being over exposed to the five elements. Heat, Damp, Dry Cold and Wind. As an example: Being form Canada and going to the equator in the middle of winter may be too much heat, often shown up as small intestine imbalance or loose stools or worse, diarrhea. What about sitting in a fishing boat on rainy day?? Too much damp creates the sniffles. Being over-exposed to dryness often creates breathing issues and being too cold can set off infections in your kidney and bladder and being exposed to constant wind takes toll on the liver.

Internal weather, is emotional stress from being caught up in our personal drama, causing us to fester about scenarios and propelling us into a state of emotional imbalance which eventually affects the physical body in the way of pain or discomfort. The five elements filter emotional themes: with fire it is joy.. too much or too little, if it is out of balance the fire element meridians have to fluctuate to bring resolve to the integrity of the meridian flow. For earth it is sympathy, for metal it is grief, for water it is fear and for liver it is irritation and anger.

Emotions are meant to stir us and move us into appropriate action, this is defined inside the word emotion: emote is to feel and motion is to take action. Emotions move through us every second of the day, it’ s what we do with them that guarantees balance. It’s when we get caught off guard with an incident or situation and we let it fester that the emotion gets stuck and adversely affects a meridian that ultimately affects our harmonious balance. This is what the traditional chinese medical practitioners coin “internal bad weather”.

“Bad weather” from emotional disturbance (internal environment) or overexposure to environmental elements (external environment) causes the body to become sick. The micro-organism balance in the body becomes upset, hence bacteria, fungus and viruses invade the body. This is the time we seek Western medicine but there are no longer the signs of “bad weather” just symptoms. The allopathic medical model then proceeds to treat the symptoms of bacteria, fungus and virus, but never explores the cause or “bad weather”. By understanding the importance of the meridians in regards to our immune system, we can explore the reasons for the bad weather and prevent the micro-organism imbalance in the body. This is like taking the garbage out.

In Energy Kinesiology we can easily explore the causes of bad weather by assessing the integrity of the meridians, offering physical balance and knowing the basic emotional theme of the elements. With further training in kinesiology the knowledge expands to understanding that each meridian portrays a kaleidoscope with shades of emotions, which brings the client closer to moving a stuck emotion.

Offering the body balance on all three dimensions is the new frontier of health. Balancing the physical body with kinesiology techniques (physical dimension) combined with discovering client awareness (emotional dimension) to the blocked emotion and assisting the emotion to take motion, eventually results in a new outlook spiritual dimension) on situations and with life.

This is ultimately a forecast of “good weather”, for both the “external environment” and the “internal environment”.

9 Ways to Be a Spiritual Warrior

I first read these words in medical school, in the middle of a difficult surgical rotation. I felt depressed and beaten down from working 80+ hour weeks and arduous overnight shifts, and demoralized by poor treatment from my superiors (who were undoubtedly demoralized, themselves). I wanted to be a surgeon, but couldn’t imagine the rest of my life looking like this. And then, out of nowhere, my boyfriend broke up with me. It felt like things couldn’t get much worse.

Then, I read these words in Jack Kornfield’s book, A Path With Heart. I mulled over what he said, and turned it over in my mind. I began to consider whether it was possible to see painful experiences as challenges to work through, and not as bad luck to lament. I wondered, could I see the same circumstances through different eyes? Soon after, I decided to abandon a career in surgery for a future in psychiatry (and haven’t looked back since). Here are some ways we can all cultivate our own inner spiritual warrior — the part of us that faces challenge with wisdom, equanimity, and compassion.

1. Turn straw into gold. Our deepest suffering is often our greatest opportunity to learn about ourselves and take action to be better people. Working through suffering is how you learn to be patient, humble, and grateful. And developing strength in the face of painful circumstances teaches you that you don’t need to fear the natural ups and downs of life, and instead can face whatever comes your way with inner calm and peace.

2. Integrate mindfulness into daily life. Being mindful doesn’t mean you need to spend hours a day meditating — you just need to pay attention. We think we don’t have the time, but it doesn’t need to take any extra time. Practice paying attention when you’re engaged in daily activities. When you’re washing the dishes, wash the dishes, and try not to let your mind wander to the past or future. When you’re eating, eat. When you’re walking, walk, and pay attention to the ground under each step.

3. See everyone as your Buddha. Just as difficult circumstances can be opportunities for growth, so can interactions with difficult people. Imagine that any difficult person you encounter is actually the Buddha in disguise, put there to teach you a specific lesson about life or about yourself. What do you think the universe is trying to teach you?

4. Recognize the difference between pain and suffering. In Eastern philosophy, pain and suffering are two very different things. Pain is the inevitable hardships of life, and suffering is the avoidable negative narrative we add on top of that. Losing your job is pain — telling yourself that this means you’re a failure is suffering. Ending a relationship is pain — interpreting this to mean that you’ll never meet anyone again is suffering. You can’t eliminate pain, but you can end suffering.

5. Set a daily intention. In many meditation and yoga classes the teacher will ask the students to set an intention at the beginning of their practice. The same exercise can be useful in your day-to-day life. Try asking yourself every morning, “What emotion or feeling do I want to cultivate today?” Maybe it’s to be patient, nonjudgmental, self-assured, happy, or open-minded. Whatever it is, set an intention to foster this quality throughout your day.

6. Create space for negative emotions. A common reaction to painful emotions like doubt, fear, or anger is to squash them down and pretend they’re not there. You’ll actually find it a lot more tolerable if you create space for them, instead. Imagine whatever painful emotion you’re feeling as a compact ball of energy at your heart. Now expand that ball of energy to take up the whole room, the whole street, the whole planet, the whole universe. As it diffuses outward, the strength of the emotion wanes. As you pay attention to it, it loses power.

7. Cultivate wise thoughts. So little of how we see the world is based on fact and reality, and so much is based on subjective perceptions and interpretations. This is why unwise thoughts can be so destructive and wise thoughts can be so empowering. Choose to cultivate wise thoughts. We can’t always choose how we feel, but we can choose what thoughts patterns and narratives we want to nurture.

8. Do something you’re afraid of every day. In order to be able to do anything really amazing or courageous, we need to be able to act even when we’re afraid. This is learned skill. The more you do it, the better you get at it. Practicing in small ways can help you build the momentum for something bigger. Maybe it’s asking that cute girl out at the grocery store, or negotiating a price when you don’t feel comfortable haggling, or speaking up at work when normally you keep quiet. Whatever you’re afraid of, practice doing it.

9. Act out of love, not fear. Many people think the opposite of love is hate, but I would argue it’s fear. While fear is a closing and contraction of the heart, love is a warmness and openness to yourself, the people around you, and whatever circumstance comes your way. If you’re ever confused and unsure how to act, ask yourself one question: Does the action you’re considering spring from love or from fear? Always choose love.

While it’s generally agreed in the natural health arena that organically produced fare is superior in safety compared to crops that utilize GMOs or chemical pesticides, the fact that it’s more nutritious might be overlooked by consumers. Conventional growers insist there isn’t a substantial difference between the two, yet several studies have found otherwise.

The science behind nutrient rich organic edibles

In the battle between conventional versus organic, research has shown the latter to be the victor with higher levels of vitamins and minerals as well as conjugated linoleic acid (CLA) and omega-3 fats.

Nutritional profile of organic compared to conventional crops

After reviewing 41 published studies examining the nutritional content of conventional and organically grown crops, certified nutrition specialist Virginia Worthington discovered organic food rated significantly higher. Findings include greater levels of vitamin C (27 percent), iron (21.1 percent), magnesium (29.3 percent) and phosphorus (13.6 percent). She also notes that organic crops had lower nitrates and heavy metal contamination. Worthington’s results can be found in The Journal of Alternative and Complementary Medicine

Likewise, a study led by Alyson Mitchell at the University of California-Davis found free radical scavenging flavonoids were notably higher in organic tomatoes. Over the course of ten years, organically produced tomatoes were compared to their conventional counterpart. The organic fruit was shown to contain between 79 and 97 percent more flavonoid, aglycones, quercetin and kaempferol than conventionally grown tomatoes.

Variance in milk fatty acids between organic and conventional farming practices

A study in the Journal of Dairy Research investigated the chemical composition of milk sourced from conventional and organic dairy sheep and goats in Greece. One hundred and sixty two milk samples were taken over three months. Results showed fat content was lower in the organic milk compared to conventional. Additionally, the researchers discovered:

Milk from organic sheep had higher content in MUFA, PUFA, alpha-LNA, cis-9, trans-11 CLA, and omega-3 FA, whereas in milk from organic goats alpha-LNA and omega-3 FA content was higher than that in conventional one. These differences are, mainly, attributed to different feeding practices used by the two production systems.

According to the study, organic milk has a greater nutritional value (due to its fatty acid profile) compared to conventional milk when “produced under the farming conditions practiced in Greece.”

Similar results were found with cow’s milk. A team of researchers at the Institute of Food Science and Nutrition in Piacenza, Italy evaluated the fat composition of organic bulk milk as well as conventional. Once again, organically produced milk had higher levels of CLA. “The animal diet appears to be the factor which has the highest effect on the CLA concentration in milk and milk products and an organic diet based on fresh or dried forage, that is rich in CLA precursory fatty acids, may improve the yield of fatty acids with beneficial effects on health.”
