Own Your Power

Torment and Giving In:     When the energies of all that is around us begin to swirl in confused ways, as new energies enter and vortex centers shift, we find ourselves lost in confusion.  There are many possible responses to this confusion.  The most common one is to fall into fear.   And when you fall into fear, then we are most easily convinced to do things that we would not, in our general centered consciousness do. This is a time to take a look at what is truly important to you and to go for that.  You are not powerless.  You have recourse.  It is a time for a shift in focus.  Look elsewhere, change your thoughts, change your mind.  Fear is a conditioned and easy response, so if you just allow yourself temporarily  to shift your focus, you can get more perspective.  Give in to the heart knowledge that is inside.

INTENTION: I am stronger than my fears.  I create the reality I desire.

Summer Solstice Notes

Celebrating the Solstices

by Cayelin K Castell

The Solstices mark the time of year when the Sun is rising and setting as far south (Winter Solstice) or as far North as possible before changing direction. When the Sun rises at its southern extreme in the Northern Hemisphere we have Winter Solstice. When the Sun rises at its northern extreme we have Summer Solstice.

The Sun at the Winter Solstice reaches an ending or death, dying to the previous yearly cycle. The Winter Solstice is marked by the longest night of the year, the shortest day. This time marks the beginning when the days slowly begin to lengthen and the nights slowly grow shorter.

The Sun at Sumer Solstice is reaching a point of fullness or the mid-point of the Solar Cycle. The Summer Solstice marks the longest day and the shortest night of the year and the turning point where the days slowly begin to shorten and the nights slowly begin to lengthen.

In the bigger picture, we are also ending a Great Year that has lasted nearly 26,000 years. That means this is time when we are witness to a new beginning of an entirely new 26,000 year cycle. The ending and beginning of a Great Year occurs over many years. We propose in Shamanic Astrology that it lasts at least 144 years as the processional cycle moves one degree every 72 years and these points are on at least some part of the Galactic Cross (the intersection of the plane of the Solar System with the plane of the Galaxy) for 72 years before and 72 years after the exact alignment.

fr/Burnt Norton by T.S. Eliot

FOUR QUARTETS by T.S. ELIOT

QUARTET #1—BURNT NORTON

Time present and time past
Are both perhaps present in time future,
And time future contained in time past.
If all time is eternally present
All time is unredeemable.
What might have been is an abstraction
Remaining a perpetual possibility
Only in a world of speculation.
What might have been and what has been
Point to one end, which is always present.
Footfalls echo in the memory
Down the passage which we did not take
Towards the door we never opened
Into the rose-garden. My words echo
Thus, in your mind.
But to what purpose
Disturbing the dust on a bowl of rose-leaves
I do not know.

The longest total lunar eclipse since July 2000 will occur on Wednesday (June 15), with skywatchers in Europe, Asia, the Middle East, Africa and Australia in prime position to witness the moon treat.

The event is the first lunar eclipse of 2011 and one of two total lunar eclipses this year. The eclipse, which will occur during June’s full moon, will begin at 1:24 p.m. EDT (1724 GMT) and last until 7 p.m. EDT (2300 GMT), but it will not be visible from North America.

For observers in regions where it will be visible, the eclipse could offer an amazing sight: the period of totality will be 100 minutes. In the last 100 years, only three other eclipses have rivaled the duration of totality of this eclipse, according to SPACE.com’s skywatching columnist Joe. Rao. The last lunar eclipse of similar length occured on July 16, 2000 and lasted 107 minutes.

“The Second Coming” W.B. Yeats

One of my favorite poems:

William Butler Yeats (1865-1939)

THE SECOND COMING

Turning and turning in the widening gyre
The falcon cannot hear the falconer;
Things fall apart; the centre cannot hold;
Mere anarchy is loosed upon the world,
The blood-dimmed tide is loosed, and everywhere
The ceremony of innocence is drowned;
The best lack all conviction, while the worst
Are full of passionate intensity.

Surely some revelation is at hand;
Surely the Second Coming is at hand.
The Second Coming! Hardly are those words out
When a vast image out of Spiritus Mundi
Troubles my sight: a waste of desert sand;
A shape with lion body and the head of a man,
A gaze blank and pitiless as the sun,
Is moving its slow thighs, while all about it
Wind shadows of the indignant desert birds.

The darkness drops again but now I know
That twenty centuries of stony sleep
Were vexed to nightmare by a rocking cradle,
And what rough beast, its hour come round at last,
Slouches towards Bethlehem to be born?

Take A Breather

Things are hectic and crazy these days.  There seems little prospect of this changing.  Our job is to deal, to cope, perhaps even to overcome.  In order to do this, we need to be in contact with WHO we are as much as possible.

The good thing about being in contact with our WHO is that we have a sense of our own worth and our own power. What we choose to so with that is our own stuff.

Under any circumstances, there is no judgement here. Rather, I am offering a suggestion for a way to make through the day with a little less stress.  It is an easy method, but as we learn from reading Taoism, the small stuff is generally the hardest.  We are conditioned to complicate.  To find reasons, to find motives to make observations.  What if you just needed one.  Hmm, not very… democratic?

Well, enough of that.  I have a small exercise (no huffing and puffing required) that, if used on a daily basis, can bring a bit of peace into the day.

Take a minute out of every hour of the day to center.  (If you are awake fourteen hours, that is fourteen minutes.  Not bad.) Just put everything down.  Close your eyes or perhaps focus your eyes on a peaceful picture.  Take two deep breaths.  See all the stuff just rolling off of you.  It can puddle at your feet.  You can send down into whatever is below you.  Feel how great it is to let things go for a bit. Watch it as it goes.  Then see a great white, shining light come down and flow through your body.  Renewing your energy.  Re-establishing WHO you are in your core self.  When it has fully engulfed you, go to your heart center, take two deep breaths. Add a bit of gratitude, a Namaste, whatever, and come back to where you were.

The end.  A one minute vacation to the center of it all.

June 12-18

Overall Color for the Week:    Clear

There are many things that will be coming to the surface this week, and in all areas.  Much has been hidden, hinted at, and/or redirected.  The many facades around these things will come tumbling down.  This can lead to disruption, emotions, reactions, and re-evaluations.  Many of these are way overdue.  This is week when  the energies will attempt to bring what is happening on the Earth into sync with the changes that are going on in the Universe. There is much resistance to this, and you will see this all around you.  People that you know will step out of their usual patterns in an attempt to convince themselves and others that things are not changing, that things are staying the same, that there is no need to look at the world from a new perspective.  When they cannot convince themselves of this, the emotions will follow, and oftentimes, the blame. People do not like to admit they are wrong, and they will, therefore, look outside themselves for someone to pin it on. Unfortunately there are mirrors everywhere, and they tell us what it is that we are unwilling to see for ourselves. This will not be an easy week, however if you are alert to the energies and the possibilities, you will find, with time, that this week was crucial for you in being able to move forward in your own power and to find the success that you know is yours.  This week is characterized by clarity.  This is in all areas.  That means that you may just have to confront your own hidden truths and secrets.  Stay centered, stay grounded, and you will find this one of the best weeks of your life. A New NIMBY

A New Kind of NIMBY: Nature in My Backyard

by David Suzuki, founder David Suzuki Foundation

On reading about the growing resistance to a mega-quarry being proposed for southern Ontario, I had an epiphany about the media’s use of the term NIMBY, for “not in my backyard.” It’s normally used to describe grassroots efforts to block everything from landfills and windmills to big box stores and bike lanes. NIMBYism has taken on a negative association, often implying naive or parochial resistance to projects that challenge the status quo in a community.

But NIMBYism isn’t always bad. Although it can arise out of fear of something new or different in a community, it can also be the result of genuine concern for the local environment. I’d like to propose a new kind of NIMBY, one that is positive and reflects a true sense of caring for our communities. Let’s go green and say yes to Nature in My Backyard.

Fire Up Your Creativity & Passion

6 Techniques to Ignite Your Inner Creativity and Passion

by Ronald Alexander, Ph.D.—Author, ‘Wise Mind, Open Mind’; Executive Director, The OpenMind Training Institute

Posted: 04/26/11 08:54 AM ETMost of us were taught that creativity comes from the thoughts and emotions of the mind. However, the greatest singers, dancers, painters, writers and filmmakers recognize that the most original, and even transformative, ideas actually come from the core of our being, which is accessed through an “open-mind consciousness.”

In ancient traditions, open-mind consciousness was considered to be a spiritual awakening, the great enlightenment that dissolves the darkness of confusion and fear and ushers in peace, happiness, clarity and contentment
