In the End, It’s All About You

Five Ways to Stop Comparing Yourself to Others

Why We Shouldn’t Compare

Comparing yourself to others happens at every age, from noting who has the best toys in the preschool sandbox to whose grandkids got into what college. But comparing oneself to others is especially rampant among young adults. Life-changing milestones happen quickly and often—graduations, engagements, career advancement—and it’s all on display on social media, the motherlode of FOMO-inducing social comparison.

The technical term for ‘comparing yourself to others’ is upward comparison. This means comparing ourselves to someone we perceive to be better off or more proficient than ourselves. By contrast, there is also downward comparison, which is comparing ourselves to those worse off or less proficient, like “There but for the grace” or, less eloquently, “Sucks to be them.”

Comparisons may be part of human nature—I’m sure cavemen once envied their neighbors’ fires and wheels—but when it gets out of hand, it leaves you feeling inadequate and insecure, not to mention depressed and anxious. What to do? We’ll cover five ways to stop comparing yourself to others.

5 Ways to Stop Comparing Yourself to Others

  1. Feel the power.
  2. Find your purpose.
  3. Reinterpret what’s behind material possessions.
  4. Purge your phone.
  5. Remember you don’t have the full picture.

Let’s dive deeper into each tip.

Tip #1: Feel the Power

People with power—those in influential or leadership positions—can make decisions, override objections, and have others carry out their decisions.

But power is also a state of mind. Those who feel powerful approach social comparisons differently than those who don’t feel powerful, which is to say, they pretty much ignore them.

Feel the powerTake back your power–remember, you are the CEO of your life and choices.

A study in the Journal of Experimental Social Psychology induced participants to feel more or less powerful by recalling in detail a time at work when they either had power over another person or someone had power over them.

Next, they read a description of a supposed recent graduate from their university. For some participants, the description was deliberately intimidating, with the fictitious grad racking up many impressive achievements and successes.

Finally, each participant rated themselves on six traits: Academic achievement, intelligence, competence, work ethic, likeability, and success.

Social comparisons magically seem less relevant when you’re busy saving the world or otherwise pursuing a goal you truly believe to be worthwhile.

The result? Those who had been induced to feel powerful and then read the about their fictitious peer’s FOMO-inducing achievements were more like rubber than glue with social comparisons. Even in the face of an accomplished striver, they still felt good about themselves on the six characteristics.

And what about the low power group? When they compared themselves to the fictitious striver, they felt bad about themselves, rating themselves lower.

So take back your power wherever you might be giving it away unnecessarily. You don’t need to turn into a spittle-spewing autocrat with bulging neck veins, but remember you are the CEO of your life and choices.

Tip #2: Find Your Purpose

Worried you can’t fake the C-suite attitude? No problem. You can get a similar effect with a different mindset: Purpose.

Find your purposePeople with a sense of purpose are less easily swayed by outside influences.

Another study, also in the Journal of Experimental Social Psychology, found that people with a sense of purpose were less swayed by feedback on social media. It’s not to say they didn’t notice ‘likes’ or comments at all, but they didn’t rely on them to feed their self-esteem.

So think: Why were you put on this planet? What do you care deeply about? Social comparisons magically seem less relevant when you’re busy saving the world or otherwise pursuing a goal you truly believe to be worthwhile.

Tip #3: Reinterpret What’s Behind Material Possessions

Okay, now, how to handle comparisons about material possessions—your neighbor’s new Tesla, say, or your office frenemy’s Birkin bag?

Well, in an individualistic society like the U.S., where personal choice and self-expressionare emphasized, people use their possessions to express who they are—Patagonia jackets and Subarus for the NPR crowd, Vans and PBR for hipsters, and so on.

Research shows that this tendency to define ourselves by our consumerism goes into overdrive when our idea of ourselves is threatened. For instance, one study showed that people made to doubt their intelligence suddenly became more interested in buying brainy accessories, like fountain pens and classical music. Likewise, those made to feel powerless became more inclined to buy expensive cars.

One study in the Personality and Social Psychology Bulletinasked participants to write a brief essay about the three domains of their life—including intelligence, creativity, appearance, career choices, relationships, and more—that made them feel the most confident and certain. By contrast, the other half was asked to write about the three areas of life that made them feel the most doubtful and insecure.

Why are you really buying that?We use ‘stuff’ to buffer ourselves against uncertainty and doubt.

Once primed, they were asked to fill out a questionnaire about their car and whether it expressed how they saw themselves as a person or was simply utilitarian. They agreed or disagreed with statements like “My car makes me feel good about myself,” and “My car helps me establish the kind of person I see myself to be,” as well as statements like, “My car makes it easier for me to structure and organize my daily life.”

The result? When made to feel doubtful and uncertain, participants rated their cars as a way to define themselves.

In short, we use stuff to buffer ourselves against uncertainty and doubt. All this is to say that you can read between the lines when you see your friend’s new drool-inducing shoes, bag, jeans, or car. You’re not trying to be catty, of course, but can quietly reframe their flaunting a new purchase as wearing the universal struggle with self-doubt on their sleeve.

Tip #4: Purge Your Phone

Unfollow any blogger or guru who makes you feel anxious and inadequate. Delete the apps that drag you down. If you spiral into an insecure funk every time you scroll through Instagram, get it off your phone. You can always reinstall it. But try an experiment—go without for a few days, and see if your self-image magically re-inflates.

Tip #5: Remember You Don’t Have the Full Picture

By now we know that social media is the curated highlight reel of others’ lives. But so is everything else we see in public. Your coworker’s big house might be worth less than he owes on it. Your friend’s new promotion might be inducing stomach ulcers and a secret wish to quit and make artisanal goat cheese.

Comparing the mundane, or worse, the low-lights of our lives only to the publicly available lives of others isn’t fair. Refrain from comparing your apples to others’ apple pie.

Another way to look at this is to remember that you and the object of your comparison are two completely different people. You have different personalities, aspirations, mindsets, histories, drives, vices, and downfalls. In other words, you are unique, and therefore, by definition, incomparable.

Unless you decide you’re both awesome and amazing. Then, compare away.

Going Between Lives

7,000 Souls Recall Their ‘Life’ Between Lives During Regression Hypnosisby Alanna Ketler

Certified Master Hypnotherapist Michael Newton developed a technique to regress his clients back in time to recall memories from their past lives. During this process he stumbled upon a discovery of enormous proportions.

He was able to bring the souls back to the place where they go before their next life — a life between lives. Out of 7,000 regressions, a large majority had eerily similar recollections of a place that many of them called “home.”

One of the most fascinating aspects of Newton’s work was that it didn’t matter who he was working with or what their previously held beliefs were in regards to the concept of “a soul” or reincarnation — in fact, many didn’t believe in these concepts at all.

After coming out of a session, many of these people were changed forever. They were able to recount some of their past lives and feel and clearly see the relationship those previous lives had to their current life.

The Life Between Lives

In the world of hypnotherapy, past-life regression is almost common, but what’s unique about Newton’s work is his ability to get his subjects to recall memories from being in the womb, and then from before that point as well, to the place between each life.

This was a place where, often, all of the soul family was waiting and welcoming with open arms. Many of the subjects were often surprised to see who was there as some of these people had provided a challenging experience for them in their previous lives.

According to Newton, the hypnotic responses from his subjects in regards to the afterlife provided credible information because of the consistency in their reports. Often the subjects would even use the same words and graphic depictions of where they were and what they were seeing.

Newton had no reason to feel that anyone had a motive to fake their stories, and treated each case as if he was hearing the information for the first time.

In other words, he was not suggesting words or ideas to them, but rather giving them the freedom to express these lives on their own. The similarities between the subjects was quite astounding.

Some of these similarities included:

  • People’s memories of the initial activities of the soul just after final death on earth parallel the recollections of people returning from a near-death experience (NDE).
  • Souls are generally anxious to move away from the earth after death, and in many cases may stay a few days for their funeral.
  • Most souls initially pass through a tunnel towards the light of heaven.
  • The appearances of physical structures or other familiarities from Earth on the entry of the soul into heaven are intended to ease their transition.
  • Souls have the capability of projecting former life forms in communication with other souls.
  • Immediately after their death on earth, souls are met initially in heaven by their spirit guides or someone with whom they were close in their previous life. They meet others that were important to them previously.
  • Spirit guides continue their protective role in heaven.
  • Communication in heaven is done through telepathy.
  • A private form of consciousness between spirits exists through touch.
  • Ghosts are spirits who have chosen to remain within the earth plane, generally with a high degree of discontent. They can be dealt with by various means, such as exorcism, to get them to stop interfering with human beings.
  • Souls who were unable to turn aside a human impulse to harm others will go into seclusion upon entering the spirit world and remain for quite a while. The following reincarnation may be as a victim in a karmic cycle of justice.
  • An arriving soul can enter a place of healing as part of the restoration of the soul after a lifetime on earth.
  • A life review is conducted, first with spirit guides and later with a Council of Elders.
  • Souls travel to their initial destination in heaven through a large staging area.
  • Souls proceed to their cluster, consisting of small groups of soul energy that appear like a cluster of transparent bubbles or translucent bulbs. They contain entities who often shared past lives with the arriving spirit.
  • Group placement is determined by soul level.
  • Secondary groups have some contact with a primary group.
  • Opportunity for socialization and travel exist for souls living in their group.
  • Once a soul group is formed no new members are added.
  • Souls are grouped with others of similar characteristics.
  • At higher levels of soul evolution more independence takes place from group activities.
  • Spirit lights demonstrate color that correlates with a soul’s state of spiritual evolution.
  • The spirit world resembles one great schoolhouse with a multitude of classrooms under the direction of teacher-souls who monitor progress.
  • All souls have a personal guide who may be with them for thousands of years and many lives.
  • Junior guides are often assigned as well, later in the development of a soul.
  • Guides can appear as humans as well as spirits.
  • Most souls in the world today are in an early stage of development.
  • Spirits can experience two lives on earth at the same time.
  • A dormant part of our soul remains in heaven during incarnations.
  • Souls learn the techniques of the creation of physical items by thought, starting with simple assignments.
  • Souls incarnate on worlds other than the Earth.
  • The evolution of souls can continue way beyond the level where incarnation takes place.
  • Souls are reincarnating more frequently in recent centuries, and today would have roughly two lives during the past century.
  • Souls are not required to reincarnate but considerable pressure is brought to bear by spirit guides when the time is considered right.
  • Souls go to a place of life selection in order to examine alternative lives to lead.
  • There is a tendency for spirits to reincarnate in the same geographical area they were in during past lives.
  • The effort required to overcome a physical disability accelerates spiritual evolution.
  • Souls learn prior to a new incarnation to recognize future earthly signs from other souls they may encounter on earth with whom they have been close in the spirit world.
  • Souls leave heaven to enter the body of an infant through a tunnel.
  • The physical shock of birth is greater than that of death.
  • Souls can arrive in the infant’s body anytime before, during or slightly after the moment of birth.

Again, not only is this level of similarity and detail fascinating, but many of the thousands of people who were put under this hypnosis had no previous belief of reincarnation, the soul, or source consciousness. Their experiences here changed their minds.

In one instance a woman who had always faced challenges with her father in her current life saw that his soul had actually inhabited the body of the man who was the one who killed her in a past life.

She was able to see how the members of the soul family aren’t always who you might expect. Some people who have caused us the most grief may have been doing so for our soul’s best interest, in order to help us grow.

For some of us, this work may resonate on a deep level. I know for myself while watching a documentary on this subject called, Flipside: A Journey Into The Afterlife,  and hearing the people recount their previous lives or the place that was often described as “home,” no part of me doubted anything they were saying for even a second.

This information resonated to the very core of my being and just happens to go along quite nicely with my previously held beliefs in terms of reincarnation and the afterlife. Of course, we can never know for sure, but the topic of past lives and life after death is truly fascinating and can be fun to explore.

I highly recommend the book on this subject, Journey Of Souls: Case Studies Of Life Between Lives by Michael Newton himself. It goes into much more depth and provides transcripts of actual sessions with the hypnotized subjects.

More Tainted Vaccines In China

China Vaccine Scandal: Total Number of Faulty Vaccine Doses Up to Nearly 1M

Unlike a traditional vaccine that prevents disease, the aim of NeoVax, an experimental skin cancer treatment tailor-made to target a particular patient's tumours, is to prevent cancer from recurring in patients whose tumours have been removed
AFP

The grim saga of Changsheng Biotechnology continues to roil China with news Wednesday that the embattled pharmaceutical firm produced a second huge batch of substandard vaccine doses for children, doubling the number of doses originally estimated.

The South China Morning Post reported that the first batch of 252,600 suspicious vaccine doses was sold entirely in the province of Shandong. Another batch of 247,200 doses has been discovered, of which 90 percent were sold in Shandong and the rest in Anhui.

A third batch of 400,000 doses sold by a different company, the state-run Wuhan Institute of Biological Products, was found to be substandard.

This puts the total number of substandard vaccine doses from Changsheng just shy of half a million, and the total number of substandard batches up to nearly one million. Chinese drug regulators evidently believe nearly all of them were, in fact, administered to children. The SCMP reported that 76 percent of the children who received injections from the first batch have been treated by doctors and “plans were in place” to treat those inoculated from the second batch.

The Chinese government’s effort to tamp down public anger by forbidding discussion of the vaccine crisis does not appear to be working, as Nikkei Asian Review reported on Tuesday that Chinese social media is still buzzing with “angry posts from parents wondering whether their children received substandard vaccines amid reports that some companies had used expired ingredients and doctored testing records.”

Nikkei Asian Review contributor Yanzhong Huang of Seton Hall University faulted the Chinese government for investing more effort in political damage control than dealing with the vaccine problem:

To limit the wider impact on social and political stability, the government seems more focused on damage control than on cleaning up the scandal-ridden vaccine industry. Officials have reportedly restricted news coverage and censors have swiftly scrubbed away widely shared essays and posts criticizing the government or spreading bad news. Even news reports from state-owned publications, such as an investigation into Wuhan Institute’s substandard vaccines by the newspaper Economic Observer, have been taken down.

What Beijing should do instead is to engage with all key stakeholders to strengthen vaccine safety. Officials should actively seek the input and involvement of the public, the industry and the press in exposing, investigating and penalizing irregularities and violations.

This would require treating whistleblowers as heroes, not as troublemakers. It would also mean introducing more transparency in the regulation of vaccine safety. Public discussion on vaccine safety should be channeled in a way that facilitates information flow and increased accountability in the policy process rather than rely on top-down, state-centric regulation.

Eighteen arrests of Changsheng personnel have been made so far, including chairwoman Gao Junfang, once hailed as the “Vaccine Queen” and possibly the wealthiest woman in China.

Gao’s rise from humble origins to billionaire tycoon was formerly the stuff of legend, but now accusations are swirling that she gained control of the company by cheating workers out of their stock holdings and engaged in other shady business practices, including bribery of public officials. Gao’s 18.1 percent stake in Changsheng Biotechnology was frozen by Chinese officials last week.

The Chinese public seems unwilling to accept even the plumpest and most carefully roasted corporate scapegoat. With remarkable persistence for the population of an authoritarian Communist state, they insist public officials who played a role must be punished as well, and they are questioning the integrity of the entire bureaucratic system.

What About Aluminum?

High levels of aluminum in 80 percent of people tested for toxicity

aluminum-testing(NaturalHealth365) Aluminum, which performs no identifiable function in the human body, is not a nutrient. Yet, most of us consume this neurotoxic substance – or inhale its fumes, or apply it to our skin – on a daily basis.

According to Analytical Research Labs, a whopping 80 percent of people tested have excessively high aluminum levels – a disturbing statistic, given that metal toxicities are associated with a wide range of chronic disease conditions.

We are living in the “age of aluminum”

Aluminum – the third most prevalent element on the planet – already exists naturally, in the environment – but, just to be clear – has ZERO benefit inside the human body.  This cheaply-produced metal has literally dozens of commercial uses – leading concerned natural health experts and environmentalists to dub the present day the “age of aluminum.”

Sadly, aluminum is used in cookware, soda cans and packaging for processed foods – not to mention: aluminum foil.  An ingredient in many over-the-counter antacids such as Rolaids, aluminum is also found in various cosmetics and hygiene products, particularly antiperspirants.

Disturbingly, exposure to aluminum begins almost immediately after birth – aluminum is used as an adjuvant in vaccines given to newborns.  In fact, the number of aluminum-containing vaccines children receive has quadrupled over the past 40 years, with children typically receiving 17 aluminum-spiked injections in the first 18 months of life.

Finally, aluminum is used liberally in the foods we eat, including kitchen staples such as cocoa, salt, flour and baking powder. Aluminum is even found in municipal tap water – which is a very good reason why we should purify our drinking water as a top health priority.

What does all this aluminum do to us?

For one thing, it accumulates in the kidneys, brains, lungs, liver and thyroid, causing oxidative stress and attacking the central nervous system. According to Dr. Edward Group, aluminum competes with calcium for absorption, and can affect the mineralization of bone and slow growth in infants. It also creates inflammation in the brain, thereby contributing to the development of neurodegenerative diseases.

Aluminum toxicity has been linked with a staggering list of specific diseases, dysfunctions and conditions.

A recent study shows that aluminum exposure causes brain oxidation and inflammation – while increasing amounts of the beta-amyloid proteins linked with Alzheimer’s disease. The University School of Medicine in Belgrade reports that drinking water with a high aluminum concentration is associated with an increased risk of Alzheimer’s.

But the damage doesn’t stop with Alzheimer’s disease. Aluminum’s ability to inhibit the uptake of neurotransmitters such as dopamine, norepinephrine and 5-hydroxytryptamine contributes to mood disorders, anxiety, insomnia and cognitive deficits.

And, aluminum is associated with anemia – an unsurprising finding, as aluminum has been shown to interfere with iron metabolism. It is also linked to other blood disorders, such as hemolysis, leukocytosis and porphyria, as well as amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, or ALS.  In addition, exposure to this unwanted substance can cause an increase in cavities, as it interferes with bone calcification and competes with fluoride.

And, finally, it is associated with kidney and liver dysfunction due to fatty degeneration.

How do I find out if I have aluminum toxicity?

Early symptoms of aluminum toxicity include headaches, depression, abnormal heartbeat, frequent colds, dry skin and heartburn, colic and other gastrointestinal problems. Later symptoms of toxicity can include paralytic muscular conditions, memory loss and confusion.

Integrative healthcare providers note that blood aluminum levels fail to reflect the total body burden, so accurately measuring aluminum toxicity can be tricky. If you think you have aluminum toxicity, it would be wise to undergo a hair tissue mineral analysis. This non-invasive test is considered the most reliable way to detect aluminum levels. However, look for a laboratory that doesn’t wash the hair before testing, as this can nullify results.

Note: if you are undergoing nutritional therapy for heavy metal toxicity, expect to see a rise in aluminum levels in the hair when it is re-tested – a result of aluminum and other metals being flushed from storage.  It’s also extremely important that you ensure the safe elimination of toxins from the body to avoid harm.

Safe and natural detoxification is essential for optimal health

The first step in detoxifying is preventing additional exposure to aluminum. Avoid the use of aluminum cookware and cans, and carefully check the labels of health and beauty products – especially antacids. Be on the lookout for aluminum-free alternatives – for example, the” Tums” brand of antacid contains no aluminum.

You should also avoid processed foods – which are often packaged using aluminum – and opt for sea salt over table salt. As for drinking water – a water purification system is a MUST and/or drink spring water – from a trusted source.

Natural substances that can help you detoxify include high-dose vitamin C, chlorella and cilantro.  Your healthcare provider may advise melatonin and 5-hydroxy-L-tryptophan as well.  Just make sure that your doctor understands the best ways to detoxify the body safely.

Garlic, onion and other sulfur-rich foods help to manufacture glutathione, the body’s master antioxidant and detoxifier.  N-acetyl-cysteine also boosts glutathione levels, while binding to and detoxifying all heavy metals.

And don’t forget about curcumin, a flavonoid found in turmeric. This natural antioxidant has been shown to have a protective effect against aluminum-induced damage, modulating the extent of oxidative stress and combating the beta-amyloid plaques associated with Alzheimer’s disease.

Although aluminum and aluminum compounds sometimes seem ever-present, it is possible to reduce or even reverse toxicity from aluminum and other unwanted metals, thereby preventing disease, protecting health and help to extend the quality of your life.

Some Thoughts from the Buddha

Buddha Reveals 9 Golden Rules to Achieving Your Goals and Living the Life You Want

If you’ve ever read any texts from Buddha, you know how powerful they can be in calming in your mind and showing you what’s important in life.

However, many of the ideas of Buddhism are highly relevant to making you more productive and focused in achieving your goals.

The below Buddhist lessons are all about cultivating a mindset for taking action in the present moment. Too often we think of Buddhism as being able letting go and living freely in the here and now. This is an important aspect of it, but the purpose is to live your life as a fully functioning and flourishing human being.

For those seeking to achieve success in life, here are 9 Buddhist maxims to meditate on.

1) Develop the mind of equilibrium. You will always be getting praise and blame, but do not let either affect the poise of the mind: follow the calmness, the absence of pride.

This saying, from Sutta Nipata, instructs the mind to be balanced, objective and aware of the dangers of pride. Remember to be calm in the face of compliments as well as negative feedback.

Over time, you’re bound to have many successes as well as great moments of failure. These are all opportunities for learning and growth. Connect with the calmness within you at all moments.

2) “Too cold, too hot, too late” can always be the excuses to those who do not want to work. They let their chance pass by.

This is about seizing the moment. It’s easy to think of excuses for not getting work done, and if you’re the type that is always finding an excuse, many opportunities will always be passing you by. It takes consistent effort and initiative to create momentum in achieving your goals, which is critical for anyone in business and other areas of life.

3) The most valuable service is one rendered to our fellow humans.

This phrase is found in Wat Phra Singh, a large Buddhist temple in Chiang Mai, Thailand. It tells you that your work is valuable inasmuch as it helps others.

Many economic historians suggest that the history of economic progress can be told through the emergence of marketplaces. This is where people come together to exchange goods that will help others.

By helping others, we’re creating innovation in our economies and ensuring that we’re adding value to the collective human experience.

4) None can live without toil, and a craft that provides your needs is a blessing indeed. But if you toil without rest, fatigue and weariness will overtake you, and you will denied the joy that comes from labor’s end.

This maxim, from the Dhammavadaka, is a perfect reminder to live a life of balance. Some people seem to be able to work continually for weeks on end, but usually the time comes when you’ll burn out. By consistently balancing hard work with rest, you’ll make sure you’ll always have a good level of energy to seize your opportunities and get work completed.

5) Your work is to discover your world and then with all your heart give yourself to it.

Take a moment to realize that your work, which is such a big part of your life, really matters to the world. Understand that every action you take in business and in life is part of a larger journey of self-discovery.

The work we do in business is part of a grander scheme to realize our life’s purpose. Business is about creating products and services that add value to people’s lives and is just a vehicle to do something for the world.

Put everything you have into your purpose and give yourself completely to it.

6) Every individual has a responsibility to help guide our global family in the right direction. Good wishes are not sufficient; we must become actively engaged.

These are the words of the Dalai Lama and is a reminder that every person shoulders the responsibility to do good. It is our actions that do the most good in the world, and the actions we undertake in business that hold the greatest potential for impacting the world.

7) Do not dwell in the past, do not dream of the future, concentrate the mind on the present moment.

Living in the present is of utmost importance, and it can help align you with carrying out more effective work.

We often have days where our mind is consumed with events of yesterday, or the tasks that need to be completed tomorrow. Concentrate the mind in the here and now in order to increase your levels of productivity.

8) You can only lose what you cling to.

This short quote is a gentle reminder to detach and embrace change. The present moment is fluid and continually transforming the conditions you’re faced with. If you get stuck to old dogmas, rules and patterns of thinking, then you won’t be able to shift your goals in the direction of helping other people’s changing whims and desires.

Roll with the times, go with the flow and embrace the changes happening around you. Let go.

9) A jug fills drop by drop.

We often have grand plans for achieving our dreams. This is important, and we don’t want to lose sight of the importance of big ideas. However, at the same time we need to remember that methodological piecemeal work is often superior to big splashes. When you concentrate on the small things, the big things fall into place.

Take heart knowing that your small efforts result in great success

Which “Milk” To Use

Dairy alternatives: The good, the bad, and the ugly

Image: Dairy alternatives: The good, the bad, and the ugly

(Natural News) Conventional dairy products are often one of the first substitutes a family makes when transitioning to a healthier lifestyle. It makes perfect sense, when you consider that conventional dairy is pasteurized (enzymes destroyed), tainted with GMOs, and infected with residual antibiotics and hormones that have been injected into the cows producing the milk. Is it any wonder why this milk is acidic and mucous forming to the body? It’s virtually guaranteed to cause intestinal inflammation.

Thankfully, alternatives have been produced but, as with any new product, the question always remains — is the producer hell-bent on creating a high quality product, or riding a profitable trend to the promise land, leaving ethics behind?

Unfortunately, it seems it’s mostly the latter.

Good dairy alternatives

There are plenty of nice dairy alternatives to chose from, and each has their healthiest versions. So depending on what you prefer, here are some of the most common options, that are best of their class.

Homemade almond milk: The most common of dairy alternatives, almond milk has been around for decades and lines the shelves of nearly any grocery store with healthier options. However, the only way to get good almond milk is to make it yourself because there are negligible (if any) options for organic, sprouted, and fresh almond milk in the store. Fortunately, almond milk is very easy to make at home, simply by soaking almonds for 8 hours or more and running them through a blender with purified water. Here’s the full recipe, to make clean, fresh, and easily digested almond milk.

Mother Nature’s micronutrient secret: Organic Broccoli Sprout Capsules now available, delivering 280mg of high-density nutrition, including the extraordinary “sulforaphane” and “glucosinolate” nutrients found only in cruciferous healing foods. Every lot laboratory tested. See availability here.

Premium coconut milk: A relative newcomer but becoming increasing popular, coconut milk is a great option as well, especially due to the fact that coconuts are generally cleaner, and don’t need to be soaked prior for digestive compatibility. In this case, coconut milk in BPA-free cans with filtered water and little to no thickening agents is a good choice. You can also get an ultra clean coconut milk powder for longer shelf life and convenience, without any typical thickeners, by getting the Health Ranger’s 100% Organic Coconut Milk Powder.

Flax milk: Not a very common dairy alternative, but a fantastic option to fit your dairy needs and get in all the beneficial properties of flaxseed. This one can be tricky to find in store, and is not as easy to make at home. However, if you would appreciate a clean and palatable powder format which helps you get your fiber and essential fatty acids like omega 3s, then give the Health Ranger’s FlaxJoy Organic Instant Flax Milk Powder a try.

Homemade hemp milk: Another popular option for alternative dairy, hemp milk can be another great option, but is only good when made at home. Fortunately, hemp milk is easy to make and does not require soaking of the hemp prior. Simply grab some organic hemp hearts and blend with water. You can get a full recipe, here.

If you do choose to make your milk at home, use a nut milk bag like this one by the Health Ranger, or if you want the Cadillac of nut milk makers, try the SoyaPowerG4.

Bad dairy alternatives

Store-bought almond milk: Store bought almond milk is bad when it is non-organic, not sprouted, contains excessive thickeners, and has less than two percent of almonds in the recipe (in comparison, a homemade almond milk contains around 25 percent almonds). This very common almond milk is hard on digestion and tasteless compared to the home made version. Organic makes it slightly better, but that doesn’t usually change the amount of thickeners and pathetic percentage of almonds in the ALMOND milk!

Low-grade coconut milk: Many coconut milks are sold in tetra packs (which are very hard to recycle), and like store bought almond milks, have excessive thickening agents, isolated nutrients, and very little coconut in it. Taste against a premium coconut milk and you’ll see many are a flavorless, watered down version. This makes the benefits very limited.

Store bought hemp milk: Like store bought almond milk, non-organic hemp milk in tetra packs is typically a victim of excessive thickeners and isolated nutrients, with very little hemp in it. This takes away much of the nutritive value. Organic is better, but again, doesn’t change the unnatural thickness and flavorless profile that comes with cutting corners on the key ingredient – hemp.

Store bought rice milk: Most store bought rice milks are a victim of thickeners and isolated nutrients, and can contain GMO ingredients (like canola oil). Even if the rice base is organic, there has been sufficient evidence that “organic” foods sourced from China can contain unacceptable heavy metal levels, so if the rice is sourced from China, there’s reason for enough concern to put it in the bad category. That and if they start to use Golden Rice, a newly approved GMO variety, then it becomes a no-brainer to avoid it.

Many other nut milks could fall into this category as well, like cashew milk, which will not be sprouted and suffer from the same issues as all those above.

Ugly dairy alternatives

Soy milk: The poster child of alternative milks in the early going of opting out of conventional dairy, soy milk has so many things going against it that it can only be classified as ugly. If it is a conventionally produced soy, it is non-organic (and one of the most heavily sprayed crops for pests), GMO, and a severe digestive and hormone disruptor due partly to high levels of anti-nutrients. If it is organic, it still is very difficult on digestion, and when combined with the usual thickeners and isolated nutrients, it makes it even worse.

[Related: For more info on GMOs and biotechnology, visit Biotech.news.]

For some perspective, the bad dairy alternatives are still better than conventional dairy, so consider it progress if that is what you have done so far. Soy milk would be virtually no improvement over conventional dairy, medium to long term.

If you want to do even better and ensure you actually get the milk you are paying for (not watered down and thickened versions), use the good choices above, including the Health Ranger’s 100% Organic Coconut Milk Powder and FlaxJoy Organic Instant Flax Milk Powder.

Preparation for Ascension

Activating Your Latent DNA Is Easier Than You Think

Connecting the “junk DNA” referred to by matrix scientists is actually the key to experiencing new abilities and creating new realities.

First, the incoming energies of the times are naturally providing the opportunity to diffuse or unravel the DNA. Expansion due to frequency, awareness, and geometric codes connect our two strands to the etheric latent strands that operate at a higher frequency.

These incoming waves of energy are giving everyone the opportunity to tune into whatever level their level of consciousness allows.

Our current matrix programming has lowered our frequency, restricting us to a certain threshold of reality at a lower frequency band. We have DNA that has been “restricted” from us do to frequency restrictions and memory loss of who we are.

The more you trusting you are of yourself and the more relaxed you become, the faster you will move towards expansion and connection with this etheric DNA.

The more you allow yourself to be who you really are rather than who you have been programmed to be, the faster you will dissolve the illusion that your DNA is not intact and online. No one else can activate your DNA for you and everyone else’s tools and techniques may not be meant for you.

The irony is that to begin to make room for DNA expansion, you actually do nothing at all. What this refers to to is cutting the distractions out of your life. No television, no YouTube, no Facebook, no entertainment, no work. You may feel a little weird about hearing this because maybe you were hoping for the next big method or detailed process.

The truth is simple yet everyone wants some other expert to tell them what to do so that they feel satisfied that they have done everything that they could possibly do to prepare for exiting this matrix. Many will have left no stone unturned and will have been down every rabbit hole that they encounter. The matrix is designed to keep everyone from having the time to do nothing.

What does it mean to do nothing? Well, it’s not really nothing, but it is a far cry from what most people on the planet are doing.

You can get some extra sleep, even lying in bed longer before falling asleep and after waking. You can spend time in nature- reading a book, sitting in the garden, or going for a stroll. Being outside on a sunny day is a huge bonus, even if in the shade.

Sunsets are great opportunities to do nothing but stare into the evening sky. If possible, walking barefoot on the dirt, beach, or grass will amplify and ground your connection deep within yourself.

Curling up by a fire and staring into the dancing energy is a great way to do nothing. Floating in water, taking a long drive, and listening to or playing music are also good examples.

In this “no-time” of doing “no-thing”, move your “to do” list out of your mind and enjoy the moment. You observe what is in your immediate reality while allowing feelings and thoughts to flow. It’s important to not overthink or to try to force anything to happen.

If you think or feel nothing at all, then that is good too! You do not have to sit in a yoga position and you do not have to close your eyes, although you can if you wish. Simply “be-ing” wherever you are and appreciating that moment while observing will expand your consciousness.

As you get practiced at this method of jumping outside of matrix time, you can add some intentions and forward movement. Intend that all of the energies of the Universe that are being sent to you move within and through you with ease and grace. Welcome change, expansion, and gravitation toward your highest and best possible timeline.

To do this, it is helpful to think about something that you would like to achieve in your life, like your next chapter. Think about a goal that makes you happy that you can look forward to. This could run the gamut from changing jobs, moving to a new location, or simply existing on a peaceful new earth.

Daydreaming is a good example of doing nothing, like the moment you catch yourself “coming to” while driving. Anyone who has driven and suddenly realizes how dangerous it was to be daydreaming while driving will understand this point of being “spaced out”.

Merging your “nothingness state” with awareness of needing to still be fully present in the body is mastery. As you master this, you can invite other people into your expansion moments while still being within yourself.

For example, you can go for a stroll with your partner and carry on a conversation. You could play a game or share deep thoughts about life. Eventually once you have found your sweet spot, you could even be at a shopping mall full of people and be able to go to your serene space within.

What you do to achieve nothing may change over time as you practice doing nothing. As you may have noticed, you actually are doing something to achieve your nothingness. Try doing something different over time to flow with the changes in your DNA expansion. Continue to grow and expand with your thoughts and feelings by adding loving thoughts to yourself.

Eventually expand your loving thoughts to your family and friends, to your neighborhood, your state, your country, all of Earth, your solar system, galaxy, universe, and multi-verse. Finally, add gratitude for your unique moments each time when closing your nothingness sessions with yourself.

You may find yourself going through cycles of doing nothing for a while and then feeling the urge to do something. Follow the urge to act and do, for it could be the activations that unravel more lessons or initiations for higher consciousness.

Often times the urge to do something aligns with service to others. You will eventually fall back into your rest period of doing nothing and it is important to not feel like that time spent doing nothing is not being fruitful.

Of course, you have to adhere to your responsibilities in life when juggling the time to take time for yourself. You would not want to harm another or become homeless in order to have your increased times of doing nothing. You will have to find the balance of harmonizing your life with others while adjusting your life to it’s maximum potential as you master finding your sweet spot.

Realize that everyone is different and that one person’s method for relaxation and DNA activation may not always work for another. The timing of DNA activation is individual within the larger collective time matrix.

If you take a glance into your past journey, you’ll see that you probably have already been guided by your higher self to do exactly what you should be doing and where you should be doing it. Often it is the conscious/ego mind and programming that blocks us from following that guidance.

Our matrix programming says that we are too busy or we do not deserve to take these leisure moments until we are finished working. You also have to realize when it is time to move forward in life. Some people get too comfortable and resist any kind of change.

Learning to work smarter not harder can bring more opportunity for special moments. Guilt can also be a program that blocks us from taking this time to relax, especially for baby boomers who were taught to work harder in order to achieve success in life. Sometimes even taking a nap can make a person’s programming think that is equivalent to being lazy.

If you have higher awareness and increased intuition, chances are you have already activated a good portion of your DNA. Remember that the DNA has a “lock” that can only be accessed with higher consciousness so that the mistakes of Atlantis do not repeat.

As our reality starts to morph through increased frequency, only those aligned through the heart will have access to the higher level DNA reality. This will assure that you only have superpowers if you are responsible and are conscious enough to use them for the greater benefit of all. Everyone else will be aligned with the reality that their oversoul unlocks for them for the most optimal experiences.

As the higher self continues to merge and align with you in the physical, it will ensure that you do everything you need to do to prepare to fully activate enough latent DNA to shift your reality. Doing nothing loosely translates into not cluttering the mind too much with other people’s information and techniques. It means not being too distracted to take time go within to find your own connection and answers.

It also means to allow and trust that you are exactly where you need to be when you find yourself relaxed and in the present moment, fully anchored into your physical body. It also means that you were born to do this and you will remember what you need to know when the time comes to activate your lightbody and superpower abilities. When the first wavers are ready, a group will shift from doing nothing to creating something that has never been created before.

Looking Within

The Seven Essene Mirrors

mirrorGregg Braden – The Essenes constituted an ascetic Jewish group or sect which existed from around 150 BCE until AD 70. They related to other religious-political groups, such as the Sadducees. The name Essene comes from the Syrian term asaya, and the Aramaic essaya or essenoí, all with the meaning of doctor, passes through Greek orum (Greek Therapeutés), and, finally, by esseni of Latin. The Essenian form is also accepted.

The Essenes have left us a beautiful analysis of human relationships. They separated into seven categories the way we relate in the course of our lives.

Wisely, they called these categories “mirrors.” Every moment of life our inner reality is mirrored in the actions, the choices, the language of the people around us.

The First of the Essene Mirrors

Refers to what we send to the one who is closest, in the present moment Do we feel anger, fear?

We mirror anger and fear. Do we feel joy and happiness? We echo joy and happiness. The first Essene mirror of human relationships is that of our presence in the present moment. The mystery of the first mirror is focused on what thing we send in the present moment to the people around us. When we are surrounded by individuals and models of behavior in which the feeling of anger and/or fear dominates, or it can be of joy and happiness, the mirror works in every way, what we see in the first mirror is the image of what we are in the present moment.

The Second of the Essene Mirrors

Subtler than the first, this mirror tells us about our judgments in the present moment. We can say that it refers to what is imposed on us “subtly.” They are the models that are imposed on us. This mirror suggests the question: “Am I mirroring myself at this moment?” The second essential mirror of human relations has a quality similar to the previous one, but it is a bit subtler. Instead of reflecting on everything we are, it shows what we judge in the present moment. If you are surrounded by people in whom the behavior model causes frustration or triggers feelings of anger or bitterness and realizes that these models are not yours at that moment, then ask yourself, “Are you showing me myself in the present moment?” If you can honestly say no, there is a good chance that it is showing you what you are judging at that moment.

The Third of the Essene Mirrors

It refers to that beautiful sensation when we look into someone’s eyes, and we are drawn to it when something magical happens, and we want to spend as much time as possible with this person. The explanation is that we find in these cases something that we have lost, that we leave behind, to survive in this world.

These magical encounters mirror something we have lost, abandoned, or been taken away from. The third essential mirror of human relations is one of the easiest to recognize because we perceive it every time we are in the presence of a person and look into our eyes. Something magical happens at that moment. In the presence of this person, we feel like an electric shock, the hairs are creeping. What happens at that moment? Through the wisdom of the third mirror is allowed access to Innocence, we renounce much of ourselves to survive the experience of life. We can lose without us noticing the self-control exercised by those who have a particular “power” over us.

Sometimes when we are faced with people embodying the same things that we have lost in the past and are looking for to reach our totality, our body expresses a physiological response that we understand as a kind of magnetic attraction for that person. You stand before someone, and for whatever unexplainable reason you feel the need to spend more time with that person, ask yourself, “What is this person have that I have lost or abandoned or been taken away from me?” The answer may surprise you since you have almost always recognized a sense of familiarity with virtually everyone who passes you by. This is the mystery of the third essential mirror of human relationships.

The Fourth of the Essene Mirrors

It is qualitatively different from other mirrors. We talk here about compulsive behaviors and addictions. In this mirror are certain behaviors that give both importance and great value, we eventually reorganize our lives to welcome them. When we talk about addiction, dependence, and compulsion, many people just imagine the drugs and alcohol, which are certainly capable of creating such behaviors.

We are not just talking about them, but some more subtle addictions, such as family control, dependence on sex and others.

The Essene fourth mirror of human relations is somewhat of a different quality. Often over the years, we adopt behavioral models that become so important that we can reorganize the rest of our lives to be able to live with them. Often such behaviors are compulsive and could influence the creation of addiction.

The fourth mirror of human relationships allows us to observe ourselves in a state of dependence and compulsion. Through these feelings, we slowly give up the things that are most valuable to us. That is, as we yield to compulsion and addiction, we slowly give up the things we love most.

The Fifth of the Essene Mirrors

Perhaps the most intense of all mirrors, the fifth mirror refers to the way we live our lives. This mirror shows us how much our parents had influenced our lives. Heavenly Father and Mother, the masculine and the feminine, represent our parents, so everything that refers to how we live our divinity on Earth is related to our parents. Through their relationship or from what we have learned with our parents, our beliefs and vision of God are born. If we always feel judged or have the feeling of “not being able or sufficient in what we do,” it reflects our relationship with our parents.

This allows you to see better and more deeply why we live life in a certain way. The fifth mirror shows us our parents and the interaction with them.

This mirror asks us to admit that our actions about us reflect our beliefs and expectations regarding what is sacred to us, namely our Heavenly Father and Mother, the Sacred Masculine and The Sacred Feminine aspects of our Creator. It is through our relationship with our parents that we realize our beliefs and expectations about God, the creator, or what is most important to us.

The Sixth of the Essene Mirrors

Called “dark night of the soul,” this mirror reflects that through challenges and difficulties we can overcome with grace and ease. Each difficulty shows us the possibility of overcoming and reaching higher levels of mastery. In this mirror, we can lose everything we have, be naked before the “dark night of the soul” to find trust in Life.

The sixth mirror of human relations has a rather sinister name, it is known by Ageless Wisdom as the “Dark Night of the Soul.” It means that every challenge we face in our lives is a test. These are lessons we must learn to “develop” our soul. However difficult it may be, we must always act calmly, wisely and even a little coldly, not reacting to things, so that we can finally learn from that experience we are going through. Is exactly as Albert Einstein said that it is at the time of greatest crisis that we grow and learn more.

The Seventh of the Essene Mirrors

It is the subtlest and often the most difficult mirror to be accepted. It asks us to believe that any experience in our life is perfect. No matter the result, here we are invited not to follow the limits imposed by others. The only goal and point of reference in our life must be ourselves. It is the simplest, and perhaps the most difficult to be believed. The seventh mystery of human relationships shows you that everything that happens in your life is in Divine Order. Just know this and manage your feelings about events. The Universe takes care of everything entirely.

Superfoods – Some You May not Have Thought of

Check out the link at the bottom of the article for a more comprehensive list of excellent Edibles:

From quinoa and kangaroo to watercress and eggs: Ten budget superfoods that WON’T break the bank

  • Taste have revealed the top 100 affordable superfoods for 2017
  • List includes eggs and quinoa, watercress and apples
  • The list also includes more unusual things such as kangaroo and black beans

From avocados to blueberries, wheatgrass and goji berries, the world is obsessed with superfoods – no matter what they cost us.

But now, Australian publication, Taste, has revealed the top 100 affordable superfoods for 2017.

From eggs to quinoa, watercress and black beans, FEMAIL introduces ten which are packed with goodness, but which also give extra bang for their (not that pricey) buck.

Because not every superfood has to come with a super expensive price tag.

Quinoa is popular with health nuts because it’s one of the most protein-rich foods we can eat, and it also contains twice as much fibre as other grains.

Next up is watercress, which is packed full of disease-fighting antioxidants.

Eating watercress raw is the best way to gain its benefits, while buying it in the summer is also the best plan because it’s in season at that time.

Top of the Taste list is quinoa - the ancient and often difficult-to-pronounce grain that is packed full of essential amino acids (stock image)

Eggs remain a budget but nutrition-packed superfood (stock image)

Third and fourth on the budget superfood list are apples and chia.

While the tiny seeds might be more expensive than some other foods on the list, chia seeds pack a huge nutritional punch, thanks to their omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acid content.

They are also filled with fibre and protein.

Inside the top ten are foods you might expect to be included in a health food list – such as green tea and eggs – but also things that are somewhat more unusual, like kangaroo and black beans.

More unusual additions to the list are kangaroo and black beans (stock image, pictured)

Rounding out the ten most affordable are kiwi fruits and lentils.

Lentils are consistently rated as a brilliant food to eat because they contain plant protein and dietary fibre, as well as folate and magnesium.

Harness the healing powers of medicinal mushrooms with these top eight varieties. Add them to your diet or take them as a supplement to reap full mushroom benefits!

Mushrooms have been prized for thousands of years across the world, not only for their range of flavors and meaty textures, but also for their health benefits.

A special class of these mushrooms, referred to as “medicinal” mushrooms, have been exploding onto the health scene lately for their ability to fight cancer, boost immunity, and even help prevent diseases like Alzheimer’s and type 2 diabetes. Read on to see how these mushroom benefits work and why these varieties of forest medicine deserve a spot on your plate every day.

1. Chaga Mushroom

Chaga-Mushrooms.jpg

Chaga mushrooms are a species of fungus that flourish in cold northern climates, growing mainly on birch trees. While their appearance is nothing like other exotic-looking mushrooms (they look similar to tree bark), they remain one of the most impressive of medicinal mushrooms.

Chaga have been extensively studied for their ability to been inhibit tumor and cancer growth, with one study showing chaga extract can potentially prevent the growth of liver cancer cells (1). Another study on mice showed a 60 percent tumor size reduction when they supplemented with chaga (2).

But the mushroom benefits don’t stop there. Other studies have shown that chaga contains several compounds that stimulate the immune system, reduce inflammation and even improve physical endurance (3, 4, 5).

How to Use Chaga Mushrooms

The most popular way to ingest chaga mushroom is to brew it into a tea. To do this, you can either use either large chunks of chaga or grind it into a fine powder.

Add about three small chunks (or two teaspoons of chaga powder) to two cups of boiling water. Let it steep for at least three minutes. Then pour into a mug, add stevia or raw honey to taste, and enjoy!

2. Reishi Mushroom

Reishi-Mushrooms.jpg

Reishi is native to East Asia and boasts an impressive list of mushroom benefits. For starters, reishi, like chaga, is considered a natural cancer fighter due to its ability to inhibit the spread of cancer cells, boost natural immune killer cells (these help rid the body of mutated “foreign” cells), and reduce inflammation (6).

In addition, reishi has also been shown to reduce the severity of allergic reactionsthrough its beneficial action on the immune system, as well as having anti-diabetic effects on blood glucose (7, 8).

How to Use Reishi Mushrooms

Reishi is most commonly taken in powder or capsule form, as it has a naturally bitter taste. When you search for a reishi product, make sure to check the label to verify that the species name, Ganoderma lucidum, is listed without any additional ingredients. Also check the dosages, as these can vary wildly among brands.

3. Lion’s Mane Mushroom

Lion’s-Mane-Mushrooms.jpg

Lion’s mane is an odd-looking fungus (yes, it really does look like the fur around a lion’s head) that has been used for centuries in Traditional Chinese Medicine and is still used extensively today throughout Korea, Japan, and China.

Lion’s mane is a powerful medicinal mushroom that can be used to boost immunity, fight cancer, and even prevent depression (9, 10). Brain health is another huge benefit that lion’s mane has up its sleeves. Studies have shown it can improve cognitive function, improve spatial and visual memory recognition in mice with Alzheimer’s, and even regenerate neural nerves (11, 12, 13).

How to Use Lion’s Mane Mushrooms

Lion’s mane can be taken in powder or capsule form. If taking as a powder, you can try adding it to smoothies or soups.

In addition, you can also cook lion’s mane – many say it has a taste similar to lobster when pan-fried, so don’t be afraid to add it to your next stir-fry or soup.

4. Shiitake Mushroom

Shiitake-Mushrooms.jpg

You may think shiitake mushrooms are just used for flavor, but in reality these ‘shrooms have major health benefits.

For one, studies show compounds in shiitake, such as b-glucan fiber, help promote satiety and fight fat gain (14). Other research shows shiitake can effectively destroy cancer cells, reduce inflammation and significantly improve immune function (15, 16).

How to Use Shiitake Mushrooms

Shiitake mushrooms have a smooth, earthy flavor that taste great in omelets, stir-fry, stews, casseroles, and even sautéed as a salad topping.

5. Cremini (Button) Mushroom

Cremini-Button-Mushrooms.jpg

Interestingly, cremini, or “button” mushrooms, also help protect against cancer, but in a different way than other medicinal mushrooms. Cremini mushrooms contain conjugated linoleic acid (CLA), a beneficial acid that has been shown to inhibit tumor growth as well as create positive changes in the immune system to help kill cancer cells (17).

In addition, cremini mushrooms can also help protect against leaky gut due to their high selenium and antioxidant content. As a bonus, these antioxidants also help protect against oxidative stress, which can damage DNA and cause premature aging (18).

How to Use Cremini Mushrooms

Cremini mushrooms have such a mild flavor and meaty texture that they work well in any vegetable or meat-based dish. Sauté them with onions and garlic for a quick veggie side, add them to omelets or scrambles, or slice them and toss them in a salad.

6. Chanterelle Mushroom

Chanterelle-Mushrooms.jpg

Chanterelle mushrooms, which look much like a yellow blooming flower, have been prized as a culinary delicacy across Europe and Asia for decades. Aside from their decadent flavor, chanterelles are also rich in phytochemicals and antioxidants that protect against aging and DNA damage. Studies have also shown they have significant antimicrobial activity, with researchers stating they could be used to produce drugs that fight a wide range of bad bacteria and fungi (19).

How to Use Chanterelle Mushrooms

Chanterelles taste best when sautéed with sliced bacon, olive oil or any other flavorful fat. Try adding garlic and onions, then purée with broth to create a creamy soup!

7. Maitake Mushroom

Maitake-Mushrooms.jpg

Maitake mushrooms can be found growing wild beneath oak and maple trees across North America and Japan. They have been studied for their ability to prevent and treat breast cancer as well as help block tumor growth in mice (20, 21).

In addition, maitake has been shown to have a positive effect on glucose levels, which could make it a potential natural treatment for type 2 diabetes (22).

How to Use Maitake Mushrooms

Maitake can be added to hearty recipes just like cremini or shiitake mushrooms. You can also find it in extract as a liquid or capsule supplement. If you decide to go this route, make sure you look for maitake D-Fraction as the extract.

8. Enoki Mushroom

Enoki-Mushrooms.jpg

Enoki mushrooms, with their long, noodle-like arms, hail from Japan. They are mildly sweet and crunchy, and contain a range of nutrients like B vitamins, trace minerals, and antioxidants. They also contain the soluble fiber beta-glucan, which has been shown to help prevent obesity (23).

Enoki mushrooms may also be potent cancer fighters, much like most of the medicinal mushrooms listed here. A 2009 study showed enoki extracts significantly improved survival rates of mice infected with Human Papillomavirus (HPV), one of the leading causes of cervical cancer. Researchers believe this response is due to enoki’s ability to boost immune and nitric oxide production in order to destroy disease cells (24).

How to Use Enoki Mushrooms

Enoki mushrooms are often featured in Asian dishes like noodle soups. Enjoy them raw in salads (just wipe them off with a paper towel first), or cook them in a stir-fry.

The Bottom Line

As you can see, the mushroom benefits hidden within even the simplest of varieties (like cremini) we take for granted are quite astounding. Don’t be afraid to experiment and add several more varieties to your dishes and your diet.
