7.04.2014- 20:27GMT The epicenter is around the lake of Serre-Poncon. No damage has been reported from the French Riviera. It is likely that there will be a few minor aftershocks with a magnitude 5, and there is always a very minor chance that this is a precursor event. The largest historic earthquake was in 1909 killing around 46 people and causing the equivalent of 2 billion Euros damage by today’s estimates.
7.04.2014- 20:25GMT Being underneath the mountains, there is a slight chance of landslides and also a slight chance that some mountain villages will have damage. Barcellonette has reported minor damage already (a small town.)
7.04.2014- 20:15GMT A moderate shallow earthquake has hit the south of France. There is a chance of damage given the depth. It is unlikely much will be discovered tonight.
